Can't use in game controller settings (Rocket League)

Every time I go to use my ps4 controller I can't change the in-game controls without being forced to go to steam and change the controls there, it's very annoying especially with Rocket League. My xbox contoller has no issues and i can use Rocket leagues settings to change controls unlike the ps4 controller

If you're forced to go into Steam Big Picture Mode to change controls, your DS4 is configured to the Steam Input API, while your Xbox controller is left as an Xinput device with the legacy bindings. Connect your DS4, open BPM and import the recommended (Legacy) bindings. Your controller has to be Xinput to use RL's controller configurator, but Steam likely uses its native API for the DS4.

you can remove the steam controller support for this game only, go to proprieties and disable, it will be in one of the drop-down menu i think. Also if you let it enable and change through steam API itself you can have 1 command for different buttons, like powerslide in both R1 and L1, BUT the last time i used steam API in RL the input lag was really high, so i just let it on legacy or completely disable it

bonus: for some reason the trigger buttons is both a digital and analog press, so if you want the foward and backwards to be in the analog one just light press before you assign the bind, with that you make a full pull and it will detect the analog trigger but not the digital button attatched to the trigger

go to steam library click rocket league then right click then properties. Then make "steam input per game" to the "forced off" setting. This will mean steam doesn't have any control over the controller. You should also see ps4 button icons instead of xbox if you did it correctly. This way also decreases input lag slightly.
