He's talking about a problem where if you go into sleep mode, and wake back up it will cause problems until restarting Steam. If you're not using sleep mode though, then you shouldn't be having the problem he's talking about.
I am not entirely sure but the issue seemed apparent even if my computer did not enter sleep mode I will have keep a closer eye
Mine is doing the same thing. It's only while using Steam Link and after waking up the computer. Not sure what settings I need to change to fix it but I sure would like to be able to wake up the computer from the living room and boot up Witcher 3 without having to run to the office to restart Steam. The lazy way I've found to restart Steam is to opt in/out of the beta client.
I shouldn't have to run a remote desktop client on my tablet to restart steam (or use BPM to reboot the system) every time I want to use steam link and steam controller.
The boot up time to get into a game should be near instant and this process is a nuissance.
After recently building a new gaming system for our media room, with a fresh install of Windows 10 (Enterprise), I noticed the controller will behave erratically after waking the system from sleep (or refuse to turn on at all). The way to fix it, without restarting steam is to unplug the wireless USB extender from the computer, wait for the controller to blink then turn off (if it's on), then plug back in the wireless USB extender.
Unplugging the controller and plugging it back in works, but I have to do it everyday. Although, sometimes unplugging the USB and plugging it back in will throw some driver error and crash Steam entirely. This is rare though.
It's a minor nuisance, but it's still annoying. Again, only seems to be a Windows 10 issue. If someone at Valve would like to reproduce this bug:
1. Turn off the logon screen in Windows 10 (not sure if that matters, but I have it setup this way since it's a gaming computer only).
2. "Always start in big picture mode" in Steam.
3. "Suspend System" from the menu with the steam controller
4. Wait and wake the system by turning on the Steam controller
5. You may have some control with controller, but selecting menus/games will be difficult and it won't work at all in games. The more likely scenario is it just won't turn on at all. It will blink then just turn it's self off.
