Steam Controller

Controller doesn't work in game while plugged in
I'm having some trouble with my controller and I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue. First, the batteries that came with the controller finally died, so I tried replacing them. No matter what batteries I put in the controller, it would immediately turn back off like the batteries were bad (though they could all be just crappy batteries, so I'm charging some rechargables to see if that solves it.)

In the mean time, I'm trying to play with the controller plugged in, but it's not working. It works outside of games like normal and in the steam menus without any problem, but it wont work in game at all.

Any ideas why it's not working?

thanks.

Steam Controller programed to turn off to save the energy (I suppose) if it can't connect to any device. Is the steam button blinks before it turns off? Check your dongle. Respond.

Unplug wireless dongle and remove batteries, restart computer and re insert wireless dongle/batteries and try pairing the controller again. Worked when my batteries died.

Check carefully that you are inserting the batteries in the correct way round, - towards the port and + towards you. Getting that wrong could cause all sorts of issues.

Thanks for the replies, I fixed the issue. The rechargable batteries I had charging worked once they were fully charged. I'm pretty sure the other batteries I was trying were just drained or something. And after doing a restart, i fixed the other issue. I'm ashamed I didn't try that first.
