ps1 emulator epsxe
just curiouse if anyone has figured out a way to configure the controller with a ps1 emulator such as epsxe i can get the overlay to launch with the game running but sadly you cant configure epsxe while a game is running and i haven't been able to figure out a way to get the overlay to load with just the emulator running but no game?

Most likely it wont work until/if valve fix game pad/desktop mode. If you own a xbox like game pad you could try configure the emulator with it and it might work when switching to steam controller.

Otherwise if you take a little time to learn mednafen with mednaffe gui you get a very nice alternative emulator that works great with PS1 and more.

I may have to try medfan then and yea I tried programming it with my Xbox 360 controller but that was no good :( oh well no real reason I HAVE to use epsxe I'm just used to it. Have to say though it works absolutely wonderfully for snes and gb/a now if only I could figure out how to set up touch dpad.

yeash yea i'd love to use medna but not reading isos is a massive turnoff and it only loads 1 of all my bin/cue games :(

Be sure to start the game using the cue and also that the cue file is correct. All my bin/cue files works flawless as long as I load the cue file.

It is important that inside the cue file the FILE "NAME OF GAME.BIN" matches the actual bin file name. So if you have renamed any of the bin/cue file you need to edit the cue file also.

Alright for EPSXE 1.9 (it MUST BE 1.9 NOT 1.925 etc) this is how you get the steam controller working

Get yourself a copy of epsxe 1.9 and unpack it.
http://www.epsxe.com/
get a copy of pokopom - xinput plugin and extract it to the plugins folder
http://ngemu.com/threads/pokopom-xinput-pad-plugin.145013/
get a copy of shark and unpack it to epsxe folder
http://dev.tapek.shst.pl/ePSXe/

Now enter epsxe folder and run patch.cmd
Now run shark_padconfig.exe and set pokopom as input plugin
Run steam and add epsxe as a non steam game and then enter BPM and configure the steam controller to game pad.

FINALLY run EPSXE trough steam and have fun!

Alright for latest epsxe do this.

Get yourself a copy of epsxe latest and unpack it.

get a copy of pokopom - xinput plugin and extract it to the plugins folder
http://ngemu.com/threads/pokopom-xinput-pad-plugin.145013/
create a inis folder under epsxe folder

go here http://ngemu.com/threads/peteopengl2tweak-tweaker-for-peteopengl2-plugin-w-gte-accuracy-hack.160319/ and grab latest one (as of now gpuPeteOpenGL2Tweak22.bin.zip)
unpack and plae it in the plugins folder
setup epsxe to use PeteOpenGL2 Tweaks 2.2 (name might change with later updates)
make sure you have Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9 (in plugins folder)

Run epsxe oncee and check so game starts fine.
now enter epsxe\inis and open "gpuPeteOpenGL2Tweak.ini"

find the section at the bottom labeled [PadPlugin] and change the 2 lines below to this
Port1 = plugins\padPokopom.dll Port2 = plugins\padPokopom.dll

now add epsxe as a non steam game and fire up BPM. Configure your steam controller to game pad mode and enjoy latest epsxe with your steam controller.

that second one worked thanks man. really glad my default template is just the ggamepad layout with the back bumpers mapped to snes9x and vbas quick load/save keys so i didn't have to change anything :)

i did the steps but when i launch the game through epsxe the controller has no effect on the game so what am i missing?

There is a few problem that might be in effect. First make sure the steam overlay works (press the steam button). If it does and the configuration is game pad then go to the links above and make sure you have installed all the required (for example VS2013 Redistributable) files.

i have 1.925 epsxe i did everything got poko plugin got the tweaker plugin setup epsxe to use tweaker game runs fine had the inis folder made edited parts into the file saved it.

fire steam up in BPM controller is set to game pad tamplate i launch epsxe then i run the iso of the game but the controller has no effect what so ever and i can't keybind anything in the joystick menu.

Are you making sure that the steam overlay comes up when you hit the big picture button? It needs the overlay to function also are you just running it through epsxe or have you imported the rooms with ice rom manager in my case I used ice that may be a difference. The key is can you get the controller overlay to launch.

First off, thank you for figuring this out and sharing it with us. I just had a question about something though. Is there any way to enable the multitap? I have a couple of xbox 360 pads i want to use with my steam controller when i have friends over.

Thanks for the info, got mine running cleanly with my steam controller now. Was losing my mind a bit trying to do it without knowing about half the plugins mentioned here.

I'm using OpenGL Tweaks and Pokopom, but Steam Overlay doesn't work for me. I've added ePSXe.exe as a non-steam game.

If you use the latest version, it has been updated since this thread was made, it should work just fine with whatever the default plugins are. I use the Xinput plugin because it gives me easy no fuss config for analog.
