Steam Controller

Steam Controller

ps1 emulator epsxe
just curiouse if anyone has figured out a way to configure the controller with a ps1 emulator such as epsxe i can get the overlay to launch with the game running but sadly you cant configure epsxe while a game is running and i haven't been able to figure out a way to get the overlay to load with just the emulator running but no game?

Well, the Steam Overlay doesn't work in every video plugin I use. I remember I got it working a couple of months ago, but now I'm stuck.

That is exactly why I mentioned the fact that there has been a couple updates to the emulator, new plugin versions that work perfect. Update the emulator and try again.
Or go mednafen. It supports the steam overlay so it's easier to configure "in-game" and you can configure the controls in-game too. Mednafen with a gui (like mednaffe) is really a great emulator. I highly recommend trying it out at least once.

Retroarch also works well with the overlay. I mean, if ePSXe is you emulator of choice it still works fine with the latest update but yeah, lots of options if you do encounter problems. :)
Literally everything in the emulator is up to date.
I know there's a way to launch ps1 games directly with steam, but isn't it possible to get the overlay to work by launching the emulator itself instead?

Sorry, for me it just plain works without any fiddling at all. Latest version, plugins it came with, launch through steam and that is literally it. You might want to try defaulting all settings and clearing the ePSXe directory and starting fresh. (Don't forget to backup your memory cards!)

That's the only thing I would recommend to try.
Holy moly, you were right! Just had to clear everything and start fresh for the overlay to work.
Many thanks!

Yeah, especially if you upgrade from older versions, you sometimes are better off just clearing things out and starting fresh. Glad it's going, Have fun!

Alright for latest epsxe do this.

Get yourself a copy of epsxe latest and unpack it.
http://www.epsxe.com/
get a copy of pokopom - xinput plugin and extract it to the plugins folder
http://ngemu.com/threads/pokopom-xinput-pad-plugin.145013/
create a inis folder under epsxe folder

go here http://ngemu.com/threads/peteopengl2tweak-tweaker-for-peteopengl2-plugin-w-gte-accuracy-hack.160319/ and grab latest one (as of now gpuPeteOpenGL2Tweak22.bin.zip)
unpack and plae it in the plugins folder
setup epsxe to use PeteOpenGL2 Tweaks 2.2 (name might change with later updates)
make sure you have Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9 (in plugins folder)

Run epsxe oncee and check so game starts fine.
now enter epsxe\inis and open "gpuPeteOpenGL2Tweak.ini"

find the section at the bottom labeled [PadPlugin] and change the 2 lines below to this
Port1 = plugins\padPokopom.dll Port2 = plugins\padPokopom.dll

now add epsxe as a non steam game and fire up BPM. Configure your steam controller to game pad mode and enjoy latest epsxe with your steam controller.

Only problem I'm having is that in the gpuPeteOpenGL2Tweak.ini, there is no [PadPlugin] section. Any advice?

Grab the latest Epsxe that has built in support for Xinput and you should be good to go. No need for Pokopom then.
