How long can the battery last on the controller?

Ridiculously long. Valve claims 80 hours, and it certainly hits somewhere near there.

If you never turn the controller on the batteries can last a year easy!

Battery life is great, 80 hours of constant use isn't far off from my experience.

In my experience, they can last decades without battery acid ruining them.

I got my controller the second week of November 2015. I just changed them yesterday for the first time. I play maybe 10-12 hrs a week.

Roughly 100 hours for me here - I imagine if I'm usin the gyros it will die faster.

One AA battery in my mouse on max frequency lives for a little more than a month, and I use it every day for like 8-12 hours.
Controller has 2 AA, and you probably wont use it for 12 hours in a row ;) So I assume it will stay alive for a month or two of everyday gaming or for a year - for time-to-time gaming.

Please, do not compare such things.
My logitech mouse with power saving tech serve 3 years of constant use and gaming and still running on the same stock AA batteries, software indicates 76% HP on it. iIt was off for 7-8 weeks while I abandoning my desktop/laptop completely.

I've had my SC since mid-October, 80+ hours is reasonable. I did get a pack of Duracells that might not have been up to snuff though, they're not lasting as long as the previous pack. I know, I know...rechargeables. Problem is I'm a trucker and rechargeables just aren't worth the hassle. If this thing ate batteries the way a conventional controller does it'd be a different story.
Got mine November 9th.
82 hours of Rocket League
14 hours of Rebel Galaxy
Add in all the mucking about you do in BPM for the settings, menus etc.

Haven't changed batteries yet. I'll let ya know when I do.
