You could assign sprint to the left grip button.

I like to use the left trackpad for movement with walk being used near center of pad and sprint bound to outer ring binding. Clicking the trackpad can also be used to go prone or crouch too. the joystick is every bit as configurable but i use it more like buttons rather than analog movement as a lot of pc games have no joystick support so wasd or equivalent gets used any hows.

Check the settings in game, you should be able to map the same key for toggle or hold sprint options. Whatever the game is set to use is what the steam controller gets mapped with. :-)

Well, you could try moving over to the left pad, and using it where a click isn't required. Might take some getting used to, but it should be easier on your hands.

i agree with this, i tried to bind to something like capslock to see if i could utilize the keyboards own toggle nature but that didnt work

Didn't Outer Ring Binding (Advanced option for Directional Pad) worked out for you?

Bind it to your Shift key, Forrest!

Yeah, this, it should automatically sprint for you if you bind Shift to the Outer Ring.

What it does specifically, is replicates WASD when your analog stick is ad neutral to mid-range, and once you hit the outer ring, it will replicate you holding Shift + WASD.

Have fun!
