Configuration not working in Skyrim
Hi everyone,

I recently got my Steam Controller and it works pretty good. But I when I play Skyrim, it doesnt work.
I disabled the 360-controller setting in the Skyrim menu as described in other discussions. If I do so, I´m able to use the controller. But then, the Key-Mapping doesn´t work. The controller always uses the default desktop-configurations in the game (Arrow keys instead of WASD).

How can I fix this?

I take it you have tried different profiles or changing the config of the controller

Yes. I already tried to configure my own config, and also several community profiles. But when I play the Game, the buttons don´t work as expected. In the controls-menu of the game, I found out, that the controller triggers the keys of the default configuration. So the controller-joystick the Arrow-keys are set but not the WASD keys.

Dose the game use a game launcher, it sounds like its not recognising the game and falling back to the desktop profile. When I play battlefield 4 I have to add the game as the origin launcher otherwise it won't work

Haha, I finally found a solution making the stuff work !!! :-)
I disconnected the controller from the pc. Then, I started Skyrim and I was able to use the mouse and the keyboard. Then, I connected the steam controller, and as previously, I could not move, nor open open the steam overlay via the steam button on the controller.

But then, I opened the steam overlay via the keyboard (shift+tab) and the overlay appeared. After I closed the steam overlay again, everything worked as expected! All buttons are working correctly, and now, I also can show the steam-overlay via the button on the controller and I am also able to configure the controller while playing :-)

Is it a permanent fix? I have the same problem with resident evil 6.

I tried this tactic and it still does not work. I can only use the arrow keys and enter, and nothing on the controller works at all. If there is something I am missing, please let me know.

Skyrim only works as keyboard and mouse or controller. No mixed input.

If it's set to keyboard and mouse, you must use a configuration based on keyboard and mouse.

If you go into Skyrim settings and enable Xbox 360 controller, then you can use a configuration setup for gamepad.

How would I disable the keyboard settings then? Thank you for your help btw.

Start the game. Go to system settings > gameplay > 360 controller.

I did that prior to this conversation unfortunately, and it still didn't allow me to use the controller.
