Steam Controller

Steam Controller

Steam Controller with consoles.
I've managed to get my SC working on Xbox one, I assume the same method will work for PS4. The only way I could do it is by using the Cronusmax (which I had abandoned 2 years ago in favour of a Xim4) This method involves setting up your desktop control scheme in big picture mode with the Joypad and mouse control template. Secondly setting up the maxaim plugin in the Cronusmax software to mimic the Joypad layout. You then add the Cronusmax software to the Steam library and launch it from within big picture mode before enabling the capture mode......now it all works including gyro aim, it's is however a bit of a pain to get smooth gameplay as every title must be configured individually in the Cronusmax software, early days though.....I'm not far from my 'one controller to rule them all' gaming utopia.

HAHAHA! That sounds awesome. Now you can play the 5 games worth playing on consoles with the steam controller, I love it. Play against those gamepad gamers and kick some ass, for all of us!

This is a brilliant attempt. Maybe some sort of scripts (+database 'utopia') to configure the Cronusmax would be something better than manual config.

pretty sure xbox is getting keyboard and mouse support so you can emulate a keyboard and mouse with that

It shall be the ultimate third party controller to rule them all.

I assumed that the upcoming KB/m support was for PC streaming on Xbox, I'm not sure if they intend to let you control the Xbox titles with it. Obviously i hope I'm wrong with my assumption, but either way it can't hurt
......making some headway with the Cronusmax settings though. May need to get a video up to show it on action.

Just need to brainstorm something, the only issue I'm left with with this setup is, every time I press the thumbstick to sprint it brings up the keyboard overlay, I can re assign sprint to the back paddle in the Steam settings and it works fine, but every time I physically press the thumbstick, even if I change its function, the Steam keyboard overlay pops up in the background over the Cronusmax app and breaks mouse control until I press the start button on controller.....any ideas. Can't believe more people aren't onto this. :)

Well, I was going to make a thread about this. Keyboard shortcuts shouldn't even exist for the moment that you're using a Steam Controller, but F6 brings up Steam Debugger (not even a developer here, lol), shift-tabbing happens by accident if alt and tab are on the same config at all, and the OSK gets called by accident by... a keyboard shortcut you're accidentally activating?

Something's really wrong with the design if the Steam Controller has to send standard keyboard signals in order to allow Steam functions. It makes no sense that the controller has to do what it does this way, and I hope Valve listens when I email them the link to this comment.
