What's the difference between a Button Pad and a Directional Pad?
The only difference I can see is that you can enable the haptics on Directional Pad, and the colors look different in the configuration menu.

Are the inputs handled differently if it's a Directional Pad?

I also noticed that the ABYX buttons have haptics because the D-pad has a haptics option

The main and crucial (to me) difference between these styles is that B-Pad is mapped on touchpad as circles while D-pad - as sectors and have different layouts. So, I just never use B-pad style on T-pad.

Oh, so there's no difference if you're using it on ABYX. I guess I should use D-Pad for ABYX because it has haptic feedback in it

There is difference in actual mapping on the T-Pad surface. ;) But okay. Yes, D-pad is way better on touchpad.

Other than how it is physically mapped onto the trackpad, you should note that the D-Pad has an extra option for the click, provided that you have not set it to require a click for the other options, whereas B-Pad only has the four options. Since you can still map the exact same things to the D-Pad anyway, it should be the option you use.

Button pad is strictly 4-way. In D-pad mode you can activate two buttons at the same time, such as up-left and so forth.

the main diferente is that the D-Pad is refered to directional pad, while the Botton Pad is supposed to be single pressed, while the Dpad overlaps to be able to assing angle directions, that means you can only press 1 botton at a time with the B-Pad (A,B,X or Y, or any other botton for that matter), while you can press any 2 bottons at a time (Like up-left, ir X+A, or any combination you want) with the D-pad.

This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ somehow.

You can press 2 buttons simultaneously if they overlap in Button Pad mode (style).

The thing is, with the D-pad, the shape of the deadzone is configurable...it's not when it's a button pad. This makes it much easier to hit two buttons at once. So, if you want to greatly lessen the chances of dumb thumbs hitting two buttons at once you go with the button pad config.
