The release notes from the latest Steam beta implies this doesn't need to happen any more, but it doesn't work for me. I noticed a new checkbox in BP mode for the FIFA shortcut related to desktop config. All I can suggest is you flip the state of that checkbox and try again.
My FIFA doesn't work at all at the moment. It's hit and miss and I gave up trying to make it work a while ago. Just gonna use DS4 controller with InputMapper for now, maybe the SC and BP stuff will be sorted in a few months or something.
It is odd that the previous advice was that fifa needed to be launched from BP; my Steam controller worked all the same whether I opened it from BP or not.
I haven't found the new checkbox in BP for FIFA shortcut related to desktop config - perhaps I have not opted into the latest Beta version, or that Beta is yet to be rolled out where I am.
I have tinkered with this problem for a while tonight (another few hours!), but still haven't fixed this.
BP is correctly applying my 'FIFA16' configuration once I start the game, but only in the time between when I press launch, and when the game actually launches. Once the game is open, the controller response is consistent with the default desktop configuration, and FIFA recognises this input as keyboard + mouse.
Oddly when I set my desktop configuration to mimic my 'FIFA16' controller config, the controller responds appropriately, and definitely behaves as a controller configuration while FIFA 16 is open . . . Except that FIFA 16 does not seem to recognise any inputs from the controller.
I am absolutely at my wit's end with this Steam controller.
If I were to add up all the time I have spent trying to fix this issue and charge Valve at my usual overtime rate at work I could have made enough money to buy a few Steam controllers by now!
A week later, it stopped working again.
In between the upgrade, I even tried the controller on another PC that I installed FIFA on too. It worked. I can see no rhyme or reason to it short of something I've installed clashing with it.
Due to a mistake on my part I've two Steam controllers. Neither of them work, so at least via process of elimination it might be safe to say it's something on my PC (possibly Steam).
The next thing I was planning to try to fix it is uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, but at this point I don't have the energy and am lucky enough to have a PS4 controller I can use. At some point when I'm desperate enough to play FIFA via home streaming, I'll try again. Until then...
Yeah forgot to mention - I'm using Steam beta and SC beta. The new checkbox appeared two days ago after the latest Steam beta update.
That said, with the exception of the FIFA issues, I really like the controller - really neat piece of kit. Just needs mature software to go with it.
Adding the games back is a one-game-at-a-time process, so don't do it unless you are prepared for that, or research how not to lose the game manifests when you uninstall. Not that it helped either way.
