Steam Controller

8Bitdo Pro 2 Support no longer working
Hey all, a bit of a scenario here. Ever since around November, I haven't been able to use my 8bitdo Pro 2 with Steam like I used to. I was having issues with a certain game and decided to disconnect it from my computers bluetooth, then reconnect. That worked fine, but suddenly steam is no longer able to recognize it in Xinput mode (Makes the controller appear like an XBONE controller). I can still use it with steam if I plug it in via USB (Where it appears as an Xbox 360 controller), but wirelessly is out of the question. Using it in Switch mode does seem to connect, but certain games don't seem to play nice with Switch mode.

I assume you're on Windows. Your system is reading the controller OK? Could check with joy.cpl: Windows key + R, type joy.cpl, choose OK. The controller is listed there? Select it > Properties and you can also test the inputs.

Assuming it was OK there, see if the 'controller doesn't show up' section resolves it:

If not that, see if clearing the controller mapping helps
- fully quit Steam
- navigate to & open with Notepad: [Steam installation folder]/config/config.vdf
- Do a search for: SDL_GamepadBind
- the mapping section follows:

- delete the mappings so you have: "SDL_GamepadBind" ""
(I don't know if its important to do it like that, might be fine removing the empty quotes or even SDL_GamepadBind - it's just the way I've always done things unless I'm removing specific mappings... one day I'll delete them and see what happens... )

- save and close file

8bitdo also has software for rebind make sure its working inside that before steam

Thank you for your post! My 8bitdo Pro 2 controller recently stopped working in Steam Big Picture Mode (and ONLY in Big Picture Mode) and I cleared the SDL_GamepadBind value as you described. Now my controller works again in Big Picture Mode, huzzah!
