How to turn off the touchpad overlay?

I'm not even sure what it's called, or what makes it appear in the first place. I'll be playing a game and whenever I touch the touchpads a small, round, blue overlay of where my finger is on the pad shows up over the game. One each for the right and the left pad.

It doesn't show up on screenshots, and I don't even know what it's called to find it in the settings. Anyone know how to get rid of it?

You can disable that in the Steam Overlay (Big Picture Mode).

Leonard it doesn't work it shows up even when I am not even using a steam controller it shows up even when I am just using a keyboard and mouse.
The stupid thing blocks the whole corner of the screen. Its sad to see that this Glitch hasn't been resolved within the past 4 flipping years.
