Steam Controller

What with the shipping cost?
I was trying to buy this controller but I couldn't find the shippong cost. Where is it? How can I know it? It has been a kick on the balls when I charged the money with steam cards and then discovered that it's not enough.

Is this really the only way I can find it?

Yes the only way is yo proceed with the purchase and after you enter your home address for shipping, then the system can calculate shipping costs... After that you will see the final price and you can either proceed with the purchase or cancel at that point.

Once I have put the money inside this. So, for physical products the best way to buy here is with visa or so. Ok. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ system. They should add some comment about that. The steam controller costs 55 bucks and with the shipping cost it ascend to 70 bucks. And the system seems to be UNABLE to tell me the final price before I put the money into the account? Come on. I could have bought the controller in Game, it would have been cheaper, if I had known this.

You don't have to put any money on your account to see the price. They can't do it differently because the shipping price is different in every country. And once you enter your address it can calculate it for you and shows you how much before you proceed with the purchase.

Also, SC is hardware. It's not a digital copy of a game, it has to be delivered to you and someone needs to get paid to do it. Of course that 55 bucks is not the final price! How could you not know this? In every online store, the shipping price is calculated for you when you enter your address.

And if you had a Gamestop nearby, why didn't you go there? There is no shipping cost in Gamestop...

But on the bright side, the controller is totally worth the money so think you'll enjoy it.

Plus, since you are in Europe the cost does include the VATs and all that jazz too. That is why it's a bit more expensive across the pond. Just remember, here in the states, we are usually the ones who get hosed on shipping costs because stuff is just not made here locally anymore. It's cool to finally have an American company who is making things here in America. :steamhappy:

Gamestop has crashed in my country, it kept out one or two years ago.

About the pay, I didn't know that because it wasn't written ANYWHERE. I am used to buy things on the internet, ebay, amazon, aliexpress, but COME ON, this is the first time I have to calculate the shipping cost by myself. They didn't tell me anything, I must suppose that the overcharge must be due to the shipping cost.

It's a horrible system. It MUST be more clear. You can't tell me this is normal. It's not that hard to have a table with prices or to inform explicitly when you enter your data. I just realize this when I have done everything and I am trying to use the final button. It doesn't happen fuc*ing anywhere.

It's a physical object. How much more clear do they need to be?

They can't tell you the price until you tell them where you live. The store page is not some malware that tracks your location so that info can't be displayed on the store page.

I'm confused as to what exactly is bothering you. Most everywhere else that's how it works.

Also. Read the store page.

3. Transport Costs and Taxes
All transport costs and taxes will be disclosed to you prior to purchase. If a Hardware Product shipment is returned to Valve because delivery to you has failed, you bear the cost of the failed delivery unless you have exercised your right to cancel (see below 4.) or the failure of delivery cannot be attributed to you.

They didn't "disclosed" it. I had to make the calculations! They didn't told me the final price! Just how more money I would need. It's an unclear process.

You show the price, then calculate the shipping cost, then show the shipping cost. That is the NORMAL AND GOOD WAY TO DO THE THINGS. Now, you show me 55 bucks as a final price, then I accept, and then it tell me "You need 8 more euros, how do you want to add it to the sale?" (don't know the exact words in english, I see it in spanish). Could you please tell me directly the shipping cost??? Could you, please?? Why have I to think "wow, this is probably the shipping cost".

Stupid system. The shipping cost is one of the most important things when you buy anything, it can make you choose one way or another to get the product. So, show it clearly is key. I have to GUESS that the shipping cost is that 15 extra bucks.

I read what you show me and I thought "well, they will tell me" but they didn't tell me anything, just charge it in the very end.

You missed it then buddy. They HAVE to by law in almost every country there is, disclose the shipping before payment. You just kept hitting yes without looking at the final screen. I bought mine through steam and that is exactly how it works. :steamfacepalm:

Oh so that's what you're upset about? That they didn't give you the exact amount?

Then i have to agree with cammelspit, it's your own fault. They give you the exact amount the shipping will cost, and the total amount (price+shipping) before you buy, after you enter your address, but before the final purchase.

And i know because i used a prepaid credit card to preorder it, and i used this system to see how much money do i need to put on the credit card so i can buy the controller.

You don't need to calculate anything yourself. Next time maybe pay more attention?

EDIT: Also, you're literally the only one complaining about this. Of all the people who ordered the controller you thought somoene would mention that Valve doesn't tell you the shipping price right? Well yes, and since no one complained because, there's nothing to complain about, then it's your fault for missing it.

They didn't give me the shipping amount. Only the game + shipping cost and maybe either because I have to GUESS IT.

I am angry because I love steam and they have the least clear buying process for physical products I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot.
Vepar 8 ABR 2016 a las 11:27
Ok seriously dude, give it a rest. It's your own fault for not paying attention and no amount of raging is going to pin that fault on Valve.

What part of this do you not understand:
http://imgur.com/GsFBMoS

It's very clear exactly how much shipping is just by looking at it.
cammelspit 8 ABR 2016 a las 11:27
Vepar, to be fair, there was one other guy who didn't pay attention and missed the final screen. I think you were in that conversation too, maybe? Germany, freaking out because he thought it had to be included in the main price on the store page and sent us all these legal links that completely contradicted him. Eventually, we found out he just hit yes and didn't pay attention and then he stopped responding. Ahhh, the internet. :steamhappy:
