Steam Controller

Steam Controller

Nvidia GameStream (Shield/Moonlight) + Steam Controller Works!
Not sure if anyone was aware, but the Steam controller does work with Nvidia's GameStream.

https://github.com/moonlight-stream/moonlight-android/issues/114

If only there was an app for Android that would let me use the Steam Link protocol so I could stream from SteamOS…

I know it would be weird to do this with a gyro, but I'm hoping someone will make a universal smartphone mount to attach to the Steam controller. I guess a regular kickstand would do the trick though.

Now that I can use my SC with my phone, this could allow me to demonstrate the Steam controller with gameplay probably easier than before using the YouTube Gaming app.

Just thought I'd drop a handy tip, because Nvidia, Valve and other developers being reluctant to take inspiration from one another is asinine to me.

I think nvidia and valve are inspiring, collaborating and creating the next gen of gaming hardware and gaming services together.

There are open source android drivers for steam controller too icydnk might be possible to use steam controller on everything the tablet or android tv runs.

Purchasing games from geforce now that give a steam key screams the integration of things you describe are on their way to me

That is a great fun way for any twitchers/youtubers demo video production. The x1 shield has its own built in video, screen, audio and game capturing tools when using shield controller so in theory could work with steam controller.

You should make a suggestion in the steam mobile app forum for "If only there was an app for Android that would let me use the Steam Link protocol so I could stream from SteamOS"

The steam app from google play has come on leaps and bounds recently which indicates it is getting enough users to get valve devs motivated to expand and improve it

Being able to link or integrate your nvidia/shield and steam accounts/clients more would be well cool though the current level of integration is actualy very impressive for x1 shield users.

Glad it works. Used moonlight for a while on Android box, but the support for Linux streaming really was the main thing that pushed me to the link. Anyone who is interested, moonlight works well on most droid devices jelly bean and up. Also great on the pi.
I would still recommend the link for anyone wanting simplicity and ease of use though
