Steam Controller

Steam Controller

Is really worth it?
I need a controller to play on my PC when I play in my living room while its being stream to my ipad (I have app that allows me to stream my pc to my ipad) so do you think this is a better alternative to my wireless xbox 360 controller?I am use to using a mouse and keyboard. I believe I would play causual games with it. The reason I ask is because I have a CS GO knife that I can sell for about $100 and the controller is about $58 with shipping and tax. I could sell it and buy the controller and still have some spare change. Do you think its worth it to sell my CS GO knife to buy it in my situation.

Yeah, it's great. I really need to write a paragraph to describe how great it is. Basically, it's 100x more customizable than any 360 controller, it has more possible bindings with the back grip buttons, the dual stage triggers, the gyrometer, and the trackpads which can be used as touch menus of sorts. The trackpads offer greater precision than that of an analog stick since movement is mapped 1:1 like a mouse, rather than a stick you continuously hold to move in the specified direction like an analog stick. That being said, this controller is a lot more like a keyboard and mouse than any other controller I've used. It takes some getting used to, but there are a lot of great guides here on Steam and a lot of people here who are willing to help others get more accustomed to the controller.
How far away are you from the computer? You may need to get the Steam Link as that has it's own reciever for the Steam Controller which sends signals up to 50 meters (yards?) as the Steam Controller's own reciever goes up to 5 meters.

Is the controller light or is it like dose have some weight to it?
You're likely to have an easier time adjusting to the SC coming from a KB+M than from a controller.

Yes, it's definitely worth it. From a hardware perspective alone it's far superior to any other controller. It's got incredible battery life, and your PC sees it natively as a KB+M. As long as your host machine can run Steam (which you need for controller configurations) you should be good to go. When you do get it, allow me to recommend trackball mode for the right pad. :)

The controller is actually pretty light compared to an Xbox controller, but I don't see that as a problem.

In meters im not sure but in feet i would say about 20 feet or less
It's light, but very durable. The build quality is at least the equivalent of traditional controllers. As my username suggests, I'm a trucker, so mine gets a fair amount of non-standard abuse. I haven't had a lick of trouble since I got it way back in the middle of october (I got one of the first ones). It started out great and has only gotten better since through software updates.

It weighs about the same as a standard wired 360 controller.

No you don't.
However, BPM's overlay features are required for the on-screen keyboard and touch menus
I believe I will get it then. What type of game genre would you recommed?
Are FPS,Racing, fighting games good with this controller?

Yes. All of the genres you listed are amazing with the controller.

It has motion controls.

FPS:
  • Trackpad for looking around and flicking
  • Motion control/gyro for aiming at enemies

Racing:
  • Use the Steam Controller like a steering wheel with the motion controls

Fighting games:
  • Trackpad set to a dpad with no click works really well
  • Grip buttons on the back are good for the buttons that are hard to reach like X and A

To be honest I'd recommend any genre with the controller.
