Random disconnects keep occuring on controller

Same as title. I've had controller for two months and am starting to experience issues now.

Batteries are full, and nothing is obstructing the device. Everything is optimal Except for the part where it's randomly disconnecting.

I have made zero changes to configuration. Everything is precisely the way it's always been. i haven't installed new programs or made any changes.

Edit:

If I'm to be more analytical about this, the only change I've made is to change the batteries to fresh ones after the controller stopped functioning consistantly
Changing the batteries has had no positive or negative impact on the controllers sudden misbehavior.
As an example, the controller is suddenly losing the ABXY and joystick functionality while retaining others. The controller will also randomly shut down entirely (turning off the indicator light as well).

Test it in big picture under controller settings. And see if it's the same wired or wireless.

It's the same. How do I exchange this thing for a working controller? Do they even do things like this at Valve?

They will also send you a shipping label for the faulty controller if that's the case. From what you say, it makes me think it's EMI rearing its head again. Also, since it was right after a battery swap, try charging the exact set that was in the controller and putting them back in. You may have once bad cell and that will give low voltages but I don't think that is your problem either.

2.4Ghz is EXTREMELY cluttered even under the best of circumstances. Seeing as the SC and nearly all wireless devices, including anything Bluetooth, use it, there can be some issues there with interference. Get those receivers for Bluetooth, or other devices as far apart as humanly possible. The SC has it's own extender that it comes with so use it. Larger devices like high powered WiFi antenna for receiving the internet or a router itself blast a massive deluge of signals that can easily overpower anything else in the room. Large metal racks, like the one I have my TV and my PC on, can conduct the signals and make things worse so put the receiver on top of it or away from it via the extender. If you have to, get an extension cable and a small USB hub for your devices, this is exactly what I do and it solves essentially all EMI problems. I have a wireless KB, mouse, headset, Bluetooth for Wii remotes and PS4 controller, my internet is exclusively WiFi AC and my son uses his Tablet that has WiFi and Bluetooth. These all works at the same time without issues because I have KB/M with my Bluetooth on a hub and the SC on the complete opposite side of the rack. My WiFi antenna is on my stereo system and I have no problems at all because I have managed the distance between them all.

Make sure you are using a 2.0 port for the SC since 3.0 is known to have EMI problems, they produce more EMI than 2.0 ports and can have problems with some 2.4Ghz devices.

If you know what spread spectrum is then you likely are learning nothing from this guide. On the other hand, what this does it manages the EMI your CPU itself puts out into the environment. AMD processors are notoriously bad for putting out insane amounts of EMI. If you overclock you have likely turned spread spectrum off but if you can, turn it on or move your PC away from everything else with extension cables. Intel chips do the same thing but not as bad as AMD ones. This isn't usually a problem for one or two little wireless dongles but it can get really bad very quickly if left unchecked.

It is more about trial and error but it's not hard once you realize what the problem is.

The antenna on the SC receiver is small. Larger than some like the Logitech unifying receiver but still. Just keep this in mind when you are arranging your setup.

While that guide enlightened me about things I didn't know, it didn't help me with my issue. I'm in an area where I don't have to worry about interference. I did double check things around the house; router, appliances, other devices in order to ensure that there wasn't a culprit I was missing. I'm going to see about getting this returned. I've already contacted support, but haven't gotten a response back yet. I'm going to have to wait patiently I suppose..

Well, they usually don't take too long when it is a standard request for a replacement, it's almost all automated. Now, if you sent through a normal ticket? Well, may as well just buy another one and wait for a decade or two. Or you could buy one at a retail store and just swap em' out, but I would never recommend someone do something like that for moral reasons, of course.
