Steam Controller

Full Pull results in repeated Soft Pull actions.
No, I don't have turbo turned on. It could be some other configuration issue though, as I only use this feature much in one game. Hitting full pull can stop this. Only seems to happen on left trigger.

ETA: The full pull is set to a double tap to activate because I accidentally activated on single press too often. I don't have things set up that way on the right trigger, which might be the source of this.

Depends on the game but if you have analog on for the trigger then a full pull will STILL be read as a soft pull due to how the analog functionality works. So even if you don't have the same function bound to full pull, some games will still read the full pull as the soft pull analog binding.

@Cerebrum123 If I understand what is happening, you are using the full pull and it is still activating the soft pull? This is actually kind of normal, especially considering you are using the full pull as a double tap. If you don't want the soft pull action to happen, I would, instead of using full pull double tap, use hip fire exclusive so it will simply bypass the soft pull when you click it all the way. What trigger mode do you have it set to and are you using the analog output or the actual soft pull? I ask because There is a mode that will stop the soft pull once the full pull is activated and won't start the soft pull again until the trigger is more or less fully released. Analog signals will go through no matter what you do so to get around that you would have to bind soft pull to the analog triggers and turn off real analog mode.

I am not using analog, I'm using Hip Fire Normal. Sometimes when I activate the full pull, it will act as if I'm constantly holding soft pull, even when I let go of the trigger entirely.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Hip fire normal seems like the correct option to be using for what you want. I know it sounds stupid but have you tried recalibrating and time recently? I didn't realize this for the longest time but calibrating also calibrates the zero state of the analog and triggers as well as the gyros. I would guess that you have either found a bug somewhere, which would require me testing the same precise config, or there is some mechanical drift happening with your controller. In the later case, calibration should fix it up right as rain. In the former case, it may be hard to suss out explicitly what is happening.

  1. What game are you using, if I own it, I will test it.
  2. Would you mind copying the VDF directly to something like dropbox so I can download it exactly as it appears to you?

Never fear my friend, I will try to help if I can. The first step is to reproduce the problem. I will also try to replicate the settings in some random game right now and see what I can find.

EDIT: So far I have tested on the desktop config and one game and it seems to work for me the way you would like it to. Soft pull was set to 1 and double tapping the full pull was set to 2 and in notepad it worked, I also tried it in and emulated game and it all worked.

I use this configuration on Overwatch. I don't have dropbox, or anything similar. However, Steam will let me upload my configuration since I've played with that configuration for so long. I'll try recalibrating the controller now. Oh, and it doesn't happen every time, just enough to cause issues.

Not going to be playing Overwatch tonight, but I calibrated the controls, and uploaded to the community. I named it Overwatch Full Keyboard and Mouse. I put your username in the description. I don't see it on my end for some reason. :/

ok then, I don't have overwatch so I can't test directly. Let me know how it goes and I will still try and test a bit more if I can. I might try to incorporate it into some game config somewhere so I can use it more often.

That's kind of funny, because in my BPM it shows you have Overwatch. Not sure why though. I'll grab a screenshot.

What? That makes no sense at all.

I know right? I tried grabbing a screenshot, but you can't use the Steam Controller's keybind for taking one while in the BPM menu. I might try to grab one later.

Which hero are you using when this occurs? I tried out your config for several minutes with Soldier76 and Mercy and it worked as expected for me. Is it a bug that only happens some of the time?

Also, I noticed you don't have a properly working menu action set. I recommend trying out my configuration "Reinhardt Approved". Then you can make changes to the default bindings to what you like.

It's especially bad on Zarya, and Reinhardt for some reason. Happened once or twice on Zenyatta. It doesn't happen every time, but when it does I get locked into Reinhardt's shield, or Zarya's explosives for a few second.

The action set generally works, but I need to fix a few things. Mostly removing the one extra set. I'll take a look at your profile though.

Okay, found out it can work if I'm in the game. So I got this.

ETA: I also fixed the action sets. I missed a setting to switch back when cursor was hidden/visible.
