NFS Most Wanted 2005
My SC doesn't work in this game 'couse it can't run steam overlay. Can anyone help?

Strange, it works for me. But I have Black Edition version, maybe that's why.

i have BE too
maybe i forgot smthg ?
but other games (heroes of migth and magic 5, most wanted 2012) are played without any problems

Hm, I have no idea. I just added it as non-steam game and it worked, no other dances were needed. It works both with Big Pic and regular overlays for me.
Have you tried to run Steam as admin? May help, I don't know what to suggest...

and offtop question - we can add non-steam game only from classic view, or Big Picture can do it too?

Just use alt tab to steam to change config and don't use any ui overlay stuff like radial menu

The profile will still work you just Dont get the overylay

Also turn off the "use desktop profile in launcher" in controller options

Running Steam as Admin and turning off the "use desktop profile in launcher" solved problem.

im going crazy here.. i just cant find that option ANYWERE... i remember i saw it before.. but the menu changed way too much and im super confused and stressed. been trying to play need for speed Most Wanted from 2005.... the game doesnt evne detect my controller.. so i only have options to play as keyboard. im ULTRA annoyed with this..

Or in the overlay, if it is working for you in a given situation. It has always been in the same position and likely always will. Next time, make a new thread rather than necroing such an old one. This will only make the SC use your custom config if the overlay is not working because of launchers or other shenanigans, this will NOT make the SC into an XBOX controller or even set it up with a gamepad template, you have to do that yourself.

Really, I should have just sat and watched instead... Necroing is such a bad habit.
