Steam overlay not working?
It worked fine at one point.. when I press the steam button it takes me outside the game even though I'm in big picture mode.

I have overlay enabled in steam settings.. Any ideas?

Though this is a little light on details, it's not as uncommon as you might think. Firstly, what game and video backend are you using? Sometimes, especially with older games, the overlay can be flakey with some of the older video backends and what you describe can be a symptom of that. Secondly, if you would please launch the game from the desktop UI, not from BPM, but have the controller on. If it works, then I have a few other things you can do that will fix it up to be launched from BPM. An issue I tend to have a LOT is the fact that different resolutions can and will cause BPM itself to take the focus away from the game and the BPM overlay. The fix here is to set your games resolution to match that of your display and, if possible like with the case of 1080P, set BPM to be the same resolution as well. For example, I have a 4KTV but my GPU isn't able to drive much at full 4K resolution aside from old games. As a result, I tend to run my games in 2K (2560x1440) and the resolution mismatch regularly causes the same symptoms you mentioned. Playing at 2K was perfect for a few months and then more recently it broke and no longer works but this has been an issue since the launch of the SC and has never been actually resolved fully. Try playing an old game with a locked resolution like Virtual Cop 2 for the PC (640x480) and play that on your 1080P Monitor, this will always trigger this problem so it can be used as an example. I also found that when first starting some games, they use a very low resolution first and you have to change it yourself on the first run. Dishonored did this to me. What I had to do was use my KB/M to change the resolution to a higher and matching resolution and then restart the game, instantly, everything worked perfectly as it should.

I hope this helps some and gives you some more troubleshooting ideas, if not, be sure to let me know and I will try to help if I can. Especially if I own the game I can try to replicate the issue and see what I can do to help out.

Good Luck!

Go to "Settings" and then got to "In-Game", select "Enable Steam Overlay in game", then select "Use Big Picture Overlay when using a Steam Controller from the Desktop"

That should fix your problem!
