Razer Wolverine v2 (Xbox Series X controller) detected by Steam as Xbox one controller
I am not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but I have a question related to Steam input.

Recently I have bought a Razer Wolverine v2 controller ( https://www.razer.com/console-controllers/Razer-Wolverine-V2/RZ06-03560200-R3U1 ), I enjoy using it in the big picture mode, but I have a small problem: it is recognized as an Xbox One Controller, but it is an Xbox Series X controller. In order to use a share button on Razer Wolverine v2, it has to be recognized as an Xbox Series X controller. But with 'xbox extended feature support' turned on it is recognized only as a generic controller.

I have found the following thread with somewhat similar issue:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/353370/discussions/0/1744478429675026218/

In that case Valve employee added a custom record for a third party controller to Steam Input (which is seen on a second comment in the thread) and that solved the problem.

In my case, mismatch in controller recognition is not that severe, but could the same thing can be done for Razer Wolverine v2 controller? Could my Razer Wolverine v2 be registered as Xbox Series X controller in Steam Input? Or is there any other solution to the problem?

EDIT:
Solution is found in comment #12:

they are used the same

series has a share button, which is also bindable

if the controller is not recognized at all, or not working properly
post the usb pid/vid so it can be added

Thank you for your comment

Bindable share button is exactly the thing I am asking this for, as I would like to use it for taking screenshots.

My gamepad is registered as 'Xbox Game Device' in device manager, and has the following hardware IDs:
USB\VID_1532&PID_0A29&REV_0101
USB\VID_1532&PID_0A29

Is this the usb pid/vid you were talking about?

yep, devs often check the forums and add devices

also try using steam client beta to see if it shows up properly
Anyone found a fix for this?

I was hoping to use steam to remap the buttons to use keyboard functions. Sadly, Razer's software does not give this capability.

you can use steam to map any joy key/trigger/pad to anything for each game/dekstop/bpm/chord

begin streaming -> steam -> settings -> controller
bpm/desktop/chord -> select controller -> map as desired
and/or steam -> library -> select game -> controller config

Thank you. I am aware about this. However, the problem is that it doesn't recognize the full features of the controller. I cannot map the extra shoulder buttons and the triggers.

post the usb vid/pid
and possibly a link to buy it
devs can add it
@TheDevil
These additional buttons can be assigned with the official Razer application. Search for "Razer Controller Setup for Xbox" in Windows Store.

Do note, that additional buttons can only be assigned for existing gamepad buttons (A, B, etc). I have read somewhere that Razer does not allow custom functions to be assigned for additional buttons, in order for the controller to be eligible to be used in official competitions.

I do not think Steam will add full fledged support for Wolverine V2, so we could assign custom functions (such as taking a screenshot, or changing the volume) to additional buttons. Only major gamepads, such as official PlayStation controllers have full support, as far as I know.

But, if at least it could be correctly recognized as Xbox Series X controller, we will be able to map "share" button to do something - without a need for Valve to add full support for Wolverine V2 to Steam Input.

Just to make sure - your gamepad is recognized as Xbox One controller, right?
I have this same controller and would like to see an update for it if at all possible on steam. I've been using the select button as a sort of modifier key so the added M1/M2 buttons are still nice but unlocking the full potential on steam would be a dream. I love the feel of this controller.
Still waiting for this update
I got this conroller 1 September 2022
Tried beta, didn't work tried another post on steam community, suggestions and ideas,
no traction,

THE ONLY RECORDED FIX< is someone using Steam on Windows 11 to make this happen, but why should I have to do this!> BETA SYSTEM!?

This has supposedly helped others, the xbox GIP service,
https://pcstrike.com/steam-not-detecting-xbox-one-controller/
will definitely give this a try when home/
Just want to add that by moving to Windows 11 and enabling "xbox extended feature support driver" today, I was finally able to get my Razer Wolverine v2 recognized as Xbox Series X device.

Thanks everyone for you suggestions.

As @1MantisPhoenix has noted, that service is indeed important. It was "running" for me by default, but for anyone having a problem, it is worth to check it, just in case.

@TheDevil
This may help you too, and make sure to install "Razer Controller Setup for Xbox" from Windows Store

Almost two years have passed since I have bought the controller. One of the reason for my purchase was additional "share" button, that I planned to bind in steam input. Finally I can use it for taking screenshots, starting today. I hope that in future it would not take two years for one simple feature to work.

And thanks for nothing to Steam support, I guess, since when I asked them, two years ago, to recognize Razer Wolverine v2 as Xbox Series X device, they told me that this would not possible and rudely cut the conversation short. So it is possible, after all.

I could not view that particular ticket, since a long time has passed since the request was closed, and Steam support does not include any information about the ticket in emails they send. I hope for better support in future. At least be polite with politely written and reasonable requests.

Last but not least, thanks to engineers working at Steam and Microsoft, who fixed the issue and made this possible in the end.

Do you mind sharing a kind of tutorial or something so I can know how to make it? That would help me a lot
@AgentLithium02
Sure thing. Is this what you were trying to do? Feel free to ask questions.

Hello, does this also apply to the official Xbox Series X controller as well? I'm using a wired connection, and it's showing up as Xbox One.
