Steam Controller

Steam Controller

How can I make the entire controller vibrate when I press a trigger.
because right now all it does is do haptics right on the trigger.

The steam controller does not have vibration motors like DualShock controllers. It uses the haptics motors to simulate it.

I get that, but I know from experience that it can make the entire controller vibrate with those haptics. ex: emulated rumble

Then turn on experimental rumble in controller settings in game from the BPM interface. Press the steam button.

The game has to support that though, otherwise it won't work.

Making the controller do that in its entirety only happens during the emulated rumble. Even then it only works with supported games and when those games use the rumble feature. Setting a specific button to activate haptics only happens on the specific button it is applied to.

However, you might check if there is an option to increase the haptics intensity on the trigger. If you can set it high enough it might feel closer to what you are asking for.

I've tried that. it really sucks, because It would be nice to have "rumble" in keyboard + mouse only shooters when I feel like playing with steam controller. I'll keep playing around with the settings, with the right combination of activators, you can do anything, right?

You can do a lot, but not really everything. Maybe someone else knows a trick to help you out, but that was the last one I could think of.

I found something that kinda fits my needs I have a trigger activator bound to na on fastest repeat with highest haptics, while weaker than I wanted, it still kinda works

GUYS I DID IT!
so I made a new action layer called rumble, and when I hold left trigger it switches to that action layer. all that action layer has is always on haptic feedback, using an empty button with hold to repeat turbo and high haptics. must admit though that the haptics are still underwhelming. maybe IO need to change my batteries.

That's actually brilliant. Changing the batteries and maybe a recalibration might help too.

Thank you, I know I'm smarter than einstein. I'll try recalibrating as well as new batteries.

If you use it wired, the haptics are actually a bit stronger, so new batteries might do the trick. They'll never be as strong as on wired, but the difference is barely noticable anyway. There's only so much you can do with it, they're strong up to a point, and that point isn't really very strong vibration. Plus, it can get pretty loud at the highest settings.

The only thing I don't like about the sc is the loud haptics. It does come in handy if you want to play songs though. (look up steam controller singer)

Haha, yeah, i saw the controller singer. :steamhappy:
I don't mind the loudness, it's also kind of an "audio feedback" of sorts. But i understand how it can be annoying. Headphones fix everything though haha! :steammocking:

Very true, even though I know rocket league epic edition doesn't have hd haptics, it just feels so much more detailed than rumble, like I know exactly where I'm hitting the ground or where the ball is on my car. (or does it have hd haptics, I don't think it does cause steam would not like that I had to use a special program to even make the controller work, as adding as a non steam game had problems)
