Steam Controller

We need PC gadget like kinect ... [MOTION CAPTURE for PC]
So, with the coming of the first Just Just dance to PC (not only TV) i would like the ubisoft to think about witch the competing gadget we can use to play dance games on pc without need the Microsoft .

Look, i know that we don't have a kinect for PC.
And I know that we don't have a consensus of wich substitute for the kinect for pc will we have.
I found those gadgets and i would like to play games like the JUST DANCE with those options (some motions will need a upgrade to run full body)...

1º Perception Neuron

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvqL2LQjBgQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tDxBbH9JMU
Good points = 100% capture including thingers , Motion capture cloth more clean without cabble, excelent market job
Bad point = use cloth, no demo with nowsdays games and too much difficult to talk to their project developers

2º PrioVR
http://www.priovr.com/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_prFDRe8xDM&feature=youtu.be

Good point = good capure with full body, a lot of support for many games nowsdays
Bad point = not support finger, there is cloth, there is cable (a lot of cables, and this is a trouble), bad market job (ZERO ON INPACT)

3º LeapMotion
https://www.leapmotion.com/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXghYjh6Gro

Good points = 100% capture , without cloth , excelent market job
Bad point = NO support for body, only fingers, no demo with nowsdays games

Not to rain on your parade but... Do you have a Steam controller related question or comment? Because you don't seem to have, and this is the forum for a Steam controller, you know, this thing:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/353370/

This might belong more in the SteamVR or Steam general discussion forum...

Like Vepar said, go to SteamVR discussion forum. Your topic has nothing to do with SC whatsoever albeit interesting.

I f*cking knew it that some plebs thought this forum is about whatever controller use on Steam rather than SC itself. Maybe the forum starting to become like a former since DS4 support.

Yeah, people come here and think this is the forum for any controller you plug into your computer and use it in steam...

This forum is for a specific device (unfortunately it seems) called Steam controller. Nothing else.

DS4 controllers still don't have a forum i think, but they're kinda related since Steam supports them now in a simmilar fashion SC is supported, so for the time being i don't think anyone minds much answering the few questions that arise (even though those questions belong more in the steam beta client forum).

But anything beyond that doesn't belong here, and will likely go unanswered or answered unrelated to the topic...

Kind of like how we did just now...

Sooooo,
if i need talk about a "FUTURE CONTROLLER"
and i talk on "general discussion' the admin talk to focus on especific forum.

So i go on controller and people discard me like i am talking about a unwanted feature.

Soo i need talk on "steam machine' sub forum ?! (no), i need talk on steamOS ?! (NO)

I, at least feel it warrants discussion on here, not necessarily as a standalone device..but to be used in conjunction with the steam controller/api, And I would argue that VR already has good tracking.
If the ps4 controller can find home here, so can other peripherals.

Imagine:
- being able to use the steam app to bind hotkeys to voice commands, or actions.
- being able to use voice-chat to fill in text and respond in games without voice chat.
- being able to better track the controller (this might be difficult since the only light is on the top face, however a future revision could include a light similar to the DS4.
- being able to automatically enter big picture mode (by picking up the steam controller), and exit it by putting it down.
- ingame characters syncing their mouth movements to yours as you say whatever you want in voice command.... (ok maybe this is just novelty, and would require game implementation)

The goal of the steam controller is to be completely versatile, and bring pc gaming to the couch. Could another source of inputs (that you are not required to buy) really not help this?

Personally I would welcome a wireless steam dual foot pedal (for racing, or push-to-talk, or anything else you program it to do through the steam app)

Go to the Steam VR forum. This is so off topic it is not even in the realm of being steam controller or even controller related at all. Since this is explicitly for VR it should go here... http://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/

No, just... No... Next thing you know we'll have people comparing DPI on their gaming mice in this forum, debating what mechanical keyboard is better and people asking for help with their xbox controllers...

This is the Steam controller forum. What OP posted has nothing to do with Steam controller. No one is saying that it's not a good topic it just doesn't belong here.
Jcee Nov 9, 2016 @ 6:17pm
What Op posted, could very well be integrated into the steam controller API in the ways stated above..
In-fact many of the features I stated above would flat-out require integration with the steam controller's API to function...
Also this is NOT exclusive to VR, Every one of the features stated above would involve the steam controller... (though its likely that the camera used for the vive COULD function in this light with the right software...

So yes I do feel this device overlaps enough with the steam controller to warrant posting it here...

What I meant here was CERTAIN other peripherals, whose use case collides with the steam controller... The PS4 controller is acceptable because it shares the steam controller's API. So would the proposed device..

If those controllers could benefit Steam Controller somehow, I will take your words. Also, I'm suprised the SteamVR reacted like since it can be useful for VR. I think the problem is you don't bother to correlate your topic with the forum you're in. That's why you got backlashes here.
