Steam Controller

Shoulder button RIP + how do I buy a new one?
Some time ago my right shoulder button died. The shoulder button itself was not moving / clicking, nor the game was registering any input from it. I finally decided to disassemble everything and I see that (it's actually a pretty bad design flaw....) the plastic shoulder button is not acting on the switch itself but on a tiny thin plastic flexible lever that then acts on the electronical switch itself. So this very tiny flexible piece of plastic broke exactly where the shoulder plastic button presses.....no way to repair it unless I find a way to put something between the actually shoulder button and the electronical switch itself. I play a lot of rocket league where boost is abused and due to stressy situations I was for sure pressing the button quite hard.

Anyways, I had the controller because my father was able to buy it in a Gamestop in Italy and then brought it to me.

I don't find the button 'buy now' on the steam store, and I don't live in Italy and where I live they don't sell it. Easiest way to get one in Europe? Also steam charges way too much for the shipping....

Ebay? From what I understand Amazon has put the price crazy high, and if you don't have a Gamestop nearby then something like Ebay is all I can think of.

Steam really should do better distribution and marketing for this thing. The shoulder button breaking is a common complaint on the forums, so they should probably figure out a way to prevent it.

I will have a look....and probably will also keep the partially working controllers for spare parts....now that I opened mine I also saw that the rubber shield of the A button (another button that I used countless of times in Rocket league....) is cut off and the rubber cover for the button is almost gone. I mean of course the controller has been under a lot of use and stress (more than a thousand hours with rocket league plus all the other games)....but still......With rocket league alone a dual shock 4 controller got broken after not even 100 hours of gaming (again, same shoulder button that I use for the boost).

On a side note: I love the steam controller for all it offers BUT, is there any controller that gives me :

- grip buttons (2 or 4)
- gyroscope for aiming

I didn't find anything. I *could* ditch the trackpad of the steam controller but for instance the PS4 controller that could give me the gyro for aiming doesn't have the grip buttons underneath. The xbox elite controller has 4 grip buttons but no gyro. The Nacon Pro controller would be awesome but as far as I know it has no gyro and I think it's not compatible with steam configuration profiles....

AFAIK the only way to get grip buttons and gyro is with the SC.

it's really a shame, it's one of the features I use most on the SC. Even the PS VITA had this feature....and some shooter games on android do the same...As I said I would ditch the trackpads in favor of analog sticks only, if that controller had gyro.

BTW even on my xbox elite controller, the right shoulder button (again, because of rocket league and really not so many hours, maybe a hundred or so) is almost dead. Lol and that controller costs 150 euros.....

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and PS4 Controller have Gyro, but no grip buttons. They just added support for the former in the beta Steam client I believe.

I personally like the trackpads, but to each their own. I generally use edge spin since I'm more used to consoles, so it feels more natural to me.
