Warranty for the controller?
I purchased the stream controller less than a year ago and it's been working fine. I used the batteries that came with it since day one.

I store it in a cool dry place away from any PCs or systems and recently when I went to use it I noticed it was not turning on.

I assumed the batteries died so I got two new ones and went to replace them and noticed that the original batteries had burst and basically adheared inside the controller.

I currently cannot remove the batteries and my controller is bunk.

Does the steam controller have any type of warranty for this defect?

The Controller has a one year warranty. I don't know if a defective set of batteries would be covered but they will probably do it anyway. It is a bad idea to store electronics for long periods with batteries installed because of the issue you had. If they won't, you might be able to dismantle the controller, clean off the battery contact and as long as the corrosion didn't damage the PCB, it should work again. Sorry, buddy.

Make a support ticket, they generally have been generous with non-user caused failure even outside of warranty.
