Steam Controller

Steam Controller

Build quality/durability
i may ask a lot of questions but i want to be sure with my purchase.

Is the build quality AND durability comparable to other controllers?

For example in my opinion the xbox 360 controller is very durable while the ps3 controller is not ( i'm speaking of experience ( ps3 controller breaking in halves even though no force was applied) also ps3 controller feels not durable at all.

So what about the steam controller?

I have mine since launch and I don't even take care of it that much. Still works like a charm.

But in my experience, the PS3 controller was more durable than an Xbox controller. I have a friend that's prone to raging and that controller was all over his apartment hehe. Still works when though it's missing plastic.

But the build quality is pretty much the same for all controllers, they're all me out of the same plastic.

well from my experience the PS3 controller is very light and easy breakable , i was at my friends house and literally broke the controller in halves while playing BF3 campaign ( i have no strength at all) and i wasn't raging ( i never am) . while xbox 360 controller feels massive and very hard

Well when you put batteries in the Steam controller is actually heavier than the Xbox controller. As for if you throw it, I never tried it so I don't know but it'll survive a drop.

Or people could not throw/drop things.

For me it feels just worthy and good when the controller feels massive and durable ( i have tender small hands ) i feel more satisfied like that

Well the quality is pretty much the same as an Xbox 360 controller or simmilar. Nothing special, nothing bad, but it's not OMGAMAZING either. Just a simple plastic controller.

it's much more durable than a playstation 3 controller. got it october 2015 and it still works fine.

Approximately 175% as durable as an average 360 controller. To keep the pads feeling the same over multiple years of use, I would suggest investing the $5 in the pad protectors from colored controllers, they are awesome and feel great. The least durable part of the controller is the grips but even then, it's so easy to just pop open the controller and repair it but that's only if you have that happen to you, many people never have grip issues. The SC 'feels' lighter than a 360 controller but they are approximately 10 grams heavier. It's about the balance of the controller so don't let anyone fool you by saying it feels light or cheap, it's not. I weighed them on my gram scale so I have first-hand knowledge of this. They put all the weight in the handles, like the batteries, so you have a mechanical advantage over the controller's weight. This is because it does have gyros, not DS3/4 or Wii Remote gyros but actually good ones. The 360 controller doesn't have gyros so they didn't really care about balance at all. The plastic is pretty much the same as a 360/XBONE controller in terms of thickness and plastic type so if you can refrain from chucking it against a wall, you will be fine. :)
