There are third party apps you can use to make it work but they are not always a proper solution because they can add other compatibility issues the SC would not have had without them. Namely, I am referring to GloSC and Xoutput. I will not be linking to them because I feel that if you are willing to deal with any possible issues and incompatibilities that the effort of a google search should act as the 'first gatekeeper' so to speak. They will both "work" but may need to be uninstalled in order to fix otherwise fully working games in your Steam library or other storefronts.
I wish there was a clear "yes, this is how you do it" sort of answer here for you but sadly, it's just not quite that simple.
Anyways, good luck and happy gaming!
Cheers, I did not think to use the action set, sounds close to ideal, I looked up a lot of alternatives and as you said they all seem to have issues or unwanted consequences.
I dug out my old Nostromo N45 it works in Windows 10 with the programming software and all much to my surprise, BUT I can not use a joystick mouse it was the reason I was never comfortable with a controller until the SC.
If Valve ever announce dropping the SC I will have to stock pile a few :)
Glad I could be helpful in some way, if you need anything else, don't hesitate to just ask.
As per cammelspit's suggestion I have Minecraft working as an action set, so I long press one button to switch to and from it an desktop mode.
Yes it works as keyboard mouse in both action sets but just switches the keys around.
If you mean does the SC work as K/M in desktop mode normally yes it does.
