Switch Pro Controller Connecting to Steam

Hello,

I'm having issues connecting my Nintendo Switch Controller to Steam. The controller is an Afterglow Nintendo Switch Controller from Nintendo but by PDP. The controller connects to Windows 10 perfectly fine. The controller doesn't seem to work right off the bat and even when I go to beta mode for Steam it starts to get out of hand. Mouse clicks are being spammed, my mouse cursor goes crazy and this only happens when the controller is connected. When I start up a game sometimes the controller doesn't work and if it does it just moves my character foward and I cannot control it at all. It seems like the controller buttons are being registered without interaction required.

1. Updated my OS to the latest
2. Latest drivers are up to date
3. Just re-installed Windows 10
4. Controllers are brand new (2) I just bought both of them at Target
5. I'm using a bluetooth dongle from Amazon and I believe this may be the culprit

Is anyone else having issues with their Nintendo Switch Controllers?

You need to clarify what Steam sees your Afterglow controller as. Windows sees it fine? As what, a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller or Xbox One controller?

Go into Controller Settings in Big Picture Mode and check your connected devices, see what Steam has found it as and try to remap the buttons.

Even if your drivers are up to date, either Windows is using the wrong drivers or the Nintendo OEM drivers don't work with the Afterglow controller. You can't assume the Afterglow's drivers are a copy of the original driver, especially if the controller is missing functions like vibration and gyro.

I am having the same issue with the exact same controller. I am pretty bummed since I really like the controller, I have a hunch that it isn't paired correctly. My other pro controller, once paired the light on the bottom will turn solid and stop at one of the dots, this one keeps running back and forth nonstop

So, I downloaded and installed the PDP driver and the whole controller just stopped working, its not being detected at all. I will be returning it, it can look really good but if it doesn't function then its useless

Yeah, it's really unfortunate. I think it's the controller itself, I have no issues with any other controllers. This Nintendo Afterglow controller seems to not be compatible with Steam because the issue doesn't start until I enable the beta mode for Steam. However, it doesn't work at all without Steam or any other software. All hell breaks loose immediately changing to beta mode lol I'll just use them as a Nintendo Switch controller until I see someone else with this issue. If you ever find out, please let me know!!
