8bitdo Pro+ question: Gyro with analog triggers
Edit: 'Gyro only works in Switch mode' is the official response I got. Oh well.

So the latest 8bitdo gamepad features gyroscope and analogue triggers, however as far as I can tell, it can only be used as either Switch or Xbox controller on PC. That means you can either use the analog triggers OR the gyroscope via Steam.

Is there any possibility of using both somehow like with the Steam controller? Analog trigger support for Switch controller would be the easiest solution, as Switch itself already supports that, at least with the gamecube controllers, however the question is if the controller itself even sends the relevant data when in Switch mode.

I dunno, it's just a switch controller with analog triggers, and again, apparently switch supports those already. And then there's DS4 which also has both of those features found in it, but I guess being recognized as DS would be a controller's job.
You would have to see if this 8bitdo controller connects natively to a PS4 with the analog triggers and gyro. Then connect to Steam as if it was a Dualshock 4.
I guess the 8bit do hardware will only support one or the other.

Nintendo Switch controllers don't make use of analog triggers so therefore it wouldn't make sense to send analog trigger values in that mode.

X-input, switchmode and D-input are supported.

You could try D-Input mode? (for android , but winOS should recognise it too?)

I guees the only good pc gyro controller left is the DS4, glad i bought a spare SC.
I hope Valve brings out a SC 2.0 with multiplatform-support .
IIRC "Macos mode" is actually talking the PS4 controller protocol but I could be wrong.

Hell, silly me for not trying that. And yup, steam recognizes it just fine. Thanks

Edit: Gyro doesn't work though, it seems. Oh well, I'll ask 8bitdo if it's possible for them to patch that in someday.

Yes, works fine in a racing game that supports analog acceleration.
And nvm, 'soft pull' and 'full pull' work fine when set to Simple Treshold, Hair Trigger seems a bit inconsistent. Not like it's a binding I see myself using too often, though.

But yeah, seems like it's a fully working DS4 implementation, though obviously without the touchpad. And gyro for some reason.

Thanks for confirming this (5 years after the fact lol). I just recently discovered the Steam Input gyro config and I was hoping I could have my SN30 pro+ paired with my Switch in Pro Controller mode and my pc in PS4 mode, and have gyro active on the pc. It's a shame that that's not possible, and it's a bit weird that the PS4 mode doesn't include gyro input, but good to know that there's no point wasting time trying to get it to work

Commenting just in case someone mentions here if/when the update gets put into place!
That is incredible! I saw the most recent beta can read all of the new Ultimate 2's inputs (extra buttons / analog triggers / gyro) but the controller UI doesn't show them yet.
