Steam Controller
Using the Switch Pro Controller on PC
I have a laptop with Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64 and am trying to use my Pro Controller for my Steam games. My client is up to date and already set up the configuration through the Big Picture settings menu.

Thing is I don't have Bluetooth on my laptop, so I have to use it wired. Already tried WiinUPro and ProconXInput and none of them worked for me.

As far as I know, I have all the drivers I need already installed on my system, and Windows even recognize the controller when is pluged in, showing "Pro Controller" as a joystick on the devices menu, but that's as far as I managed to go.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear you are running into issues using your Controller. Let's give something a shot.

Please unplug your controller, and ensure that Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Support is enabled. Once you have ensured support is enabled, please plug in your controller, and then press the Power button on your controller.

Are you still running into the problem? If so, let me know, and we can look more into this issue.

Ok, I tried that and still nothing.
Just to confirm, you see the controller in the list of game controllers in Windows' device list but you don't see it listed in the Controller Configuration menu in Steam Big Picture? Or does it show up in Steam as well but doesn't seem to work in either Big Picture or in games?
I've also seen some other Switch controller issues similar to this one where other game controller software automatically installs an input device blocker called HidGuardian that blocks certain controllers from being detected except by programs that specifically know about the blocking.

Try following the steps in this issue thread if possible, if you do have HidGuardian installed it should help you clear the controllers from it:

When pluged-in, the Pro Controller shows on the Windows' device manager, yes. But that's all, I can't manage to sync it with anything.

I can't navigate to localhost, which as far as I know means I don't have HidGuardian installed.
We've also seen some other issues where controllers aren't detected properly or fail after some amount of time when certain keyboards, mice, etc are plugged in as well. Could you try unplugging the other input devices, DAC's or anything else USB and see if Steam is able to detect it then? I suggest going into Big Picture, navigating to the Controller Settings page, then disconnecting other devices and plugging in your controller.

Still nothing.
If you're not on it already, try switching to the Steam Beta client to see if that fixes anything. The update that we released today contains some fixes specifically for Switch Pro controllers on USB, so it would be useful to know if that fixes or changes things.

Try it. Still nothing.
