Switch pro controller detected by steam as xbox one controller

so recently i started using a switch pro controller which was working fine in the beginning, but all of the sudden steam started to recognize the controller as xbox one controller and now its not working at all with steam.

I've tried uninstalling the controller from my system and using it again but same issue still happens.

I am having same issue. Microsoft see them fine as Joycon L and Joycon R but Steam just sees them as Wireless Controllers. Purchase link is listed below.

Unfortunately, I have ADHD so every time the game tells me to press X and I need to actually press Y because Xbox and Nintendo can't agree on the freaking design of the buttons so this tilts me so hard and I can't play at all, please send help!

Hi, I'm running into this same issue as those above with my Gulikit King Kong 2 Pro controller. The buttons are laid out in the Switch configuration, but my PC is recognizing it as an Xbox controller. No issues using the controller on my switch, just my PC. Can you please setup this controller in your config?

Hello, I'm having an extremely similar problem, and really need your help. Prior to a steam update, my 8BitDo Lite 2 controller was seen in Steam as a Switch Pro controller and I used this with a flashcard program called Anki (which I added as a "non-steam game"). If you're able to see my logs I think you'd see that it was working up until 2/4/2023. However, after the update, it seems the controller is now seen as a generic controller instead of Switch Pro, and I no longer am able to use the layout I had defined earlier. Please help!

I'm having an issue with the button layout while playing hogwarts legacy.
I play with a wireless nintendo switch controller but the button layout in the game keeps setting them to the xbox layout. I've tried the tricks of all the youtube videos you can find but still cant get the in game layout right. Can someone please help me with this problem?

Hello, for those who are still trying to connect their Gulikit Kingkong 2 with a Switch layout, I noticed that you shouldn't use X-Input (the second light in the controller) when connecting to PC. Instead, pair it like you would with a Switch (the first light in the controller). You'll know it worked if during pairing, your PC detects the controller as "Pro Controller" instead of "Gulikit Controller XW"

We have to add support on a case by case basis for controllers that we haven't seen before so this controller should actually be identified as a Switch controller rather than as a generic controller (or Xbox controller in your case).

I've updated Steam Input to recognize your controller as a Switch controller and it should be supported in a beta release soon. I'll let you know when we've released a version with the change included.

Hey do you guys still do this? I have a switch pro controller by hori and it's reading it just as a generic gamepad on the steam deck.
