Still, Playstation 4/5 controllers and Nintendo Switch controllers support gyro, wheras fightsticks do NOT have gyro. So, your options are a PS3 controller (which has no gyro support but would most likely match buttom prompts, a generic USB controller, or Xbox 360, the safest support.
Assuming your pro controller is detected by both windows and Steam, but as an Xbox 360 controller, in Steam Big picture go to Settings > Controller Settings. Once there select your controller under the "Detected Controllers" and select DEFINE LAYOUT.
Once here, do NOT change anything, and just click save. This will then ask the user if you want to share the layout. More importantly, IT ASKS YOU TO SELECT THE TYPE OF CONTROLLER. Here just select "Nintendo Switch Pro Controller", and you don't need to share so just go ahead and press "No Thanks".
The Controller will now disappear for a second before coming back being recognized as a Nintendo Switch Pro controler, no longer an XBox 360 one. It should stay this way even after disconnecting and reconnecting the controller.
Since the controller is now a Pro Controller don't forget to turn on Switch Pro Configuration Support and Use Nintendo Button Layout.
Honestly there should be a button/option to change the controller type straight away, instead of having this option only available after you save a custom layout through the DEFINE LAYOUT menu

This is the controller I got, can you help me?
OMG THIS SAVED ME SO MUCH! Thank you! I was going crazy trying to figure out how to fix this!
Edit: I Found out why my switch controller was showing up as a 360 and I had a phantom controller that doesn't exist. My 8bitdo wireless adapter was messing with things. Unplugged it and everything was fine. Forgot it was even plugged in and had no idea could mess with things like this.
If the face buttons got reversed, it's likely that the PC recognizes it as an Xbox controller. Nothing you can do about that but use an Xbox layout. The store page even says that wireless connections to PC is not supported.

If anybody has an idea about this, I'll be really happy to configure my gyro to use it on my Steam games. Thanks!
