Switch pro controller detected by steam as xbox one controller

so recently i started using a switch pro controller which was working fine in the beginning, but all of the sudden steam started to recognize the controller as xbox one controller and now its not working at all with steam.

I've tried uninstalling the controller from my system and using it again but same issue still happens.

Same problem. F710 Logitech. The controller works in big pic mode. Everything is functioning as normal. But once the game starts the controller no longer works????????

Switch to Steam Beta or Vice Versa and test it ... Test it both ways...
Otherwise IDK... This trick used to work Way Back in Oct 2015..

Hi, i have the same issue. I own a 3r party switch controller and it detects it as a xbox controller. I tried to change the configuration at the controller menu but it only made it worse.

Another missmatch here.

I bought a couple of generic gamepads (https://www.easysmx.com/collections/game-controllers/products/easysmx-esm-9101-wireless-gaming-controller) and when I connect to Steam Link it recognizes them as Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, instead of generic or XBox ones.

I have another Mismatch. My controller is a 3rd party and WAS working but it won't connect via Bluetooth correctly anymore. I was hoping you could add it for support. I don't know if you can look at my logs to see the one I have been connecting. The ones that have all been connecting are Switch Controllers not Xbox360 ones.

I am having the same issue with CHT BT Pro Controller 3rd party nintendo switch pro controller
Its getting paired in windows 10 but the led does not stay lit and therefore steam doesnt see it. If I connect it, itll be detected as a XBOX360 controller. Please help!

I'm having a similar issue with the CHT BT Pro Controller on mac. It labels it as an unknown controller and doesn't allow further access to the configurations.

finally, I looked at all the steam controller compatibility list (google it its easy to find) and there are like 6 compatible controllers and only one wireless is compatible... So I bought the HORI controller and it really works like a charm... everything connecting as it should without more than pairing your bluetooth controller... it connects easy on the PC and the switch... you just have to re-pair it when you change console. I gave my CHT BT Pro Controller to my niece ...

Sorry if this one's already been done, but this one's--- well it works fine with my PC/Steam. I can only use it wired on my PC cause it can't detect this controller via Bluetooth (it sees other devices but not my controller, which is weird cause I can only use this wirelessly with my Switch Lite). Steam only sees it as an Xbox Controller and it keeps being set to player 2. (I already tried BetterJoy/ReWASD/ etc.)

IDK if Steam can do anything about this anyway

We have to add support on a case by case basis for controllers that we haven't seen before so this controller should actually be identified as a Switch controller rather than as a generic controller (or Xbox controller in your case).

I've updated Steam Input to recognize your controller as a Switch controller and it should be supported in a beta release soon. I'll let you know when we've released a version with the change included.

i just bought a third party street fighter esque controller so that i could play injustice with my friend and steam is not recognizing it as a controller, even though it appears it is working fine in the computer device settings. Is there any way i can get it to recognize?
