Are you booting up into Switch mode? I'm not sure of the button combination, but I think you need to hold Y when you press Start to power it on.
I cannot seem to connect to any computer via switch mode. i can easily connect via ximput on windows, and a+start bluetooth via apple devices, but the switch mode seems to only connect to the switch
edit: if I connect to the computer using a usb cable after attempting to sync to switch mode, it will recognize it as a pro controller, however none of the buttons work and setting up desktop configuration will ask to turn on pro controller support, regardless of whether or not the pro controller support function is enabled or not.
I'm having no problems connecting my NES30 Pro in Switch mode to my PC via Bluetooth, so I'm not sure what to tell you (mine is an older model that does not have gyro). I don't own a SN30 Pro+ to test with.
You might have better luck asking users on www.reddit.com/r/8bitdo/ for help.
Can you help??
It's this model:

Hey, I just bought a Switch third party wireless pro controller and i'm having the same problem. It is coming up as a 360 controller in the settings via wired connection. Can you add a Steam Input to recognize my controller, like you did for the original poster?
The controller I purchased is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WMTN3Y8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Additionally I am unable to connect it wirelessly to my win 10 PC. Do I need any extra hardware to connect it? Right now bluetooth sees the controller but I can not use it wirelessly. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
Edit: now the controller interface on steam is failing to detect my controller
Controller interface is also failing to detect my controller as well
