Fix for Steam Controller on Mac with Parallels
This is an informal guide on getting a Steam Controller to work on PC games (in my case, Cuphead) via parallels on a Mac running High Sierra.

1. The wireless dongle totally worked right off the bat, but turned the controller into a mouse - so that didn't help at all. Steam kept telling me that a controller was not detected.

2. In the Parallels settings is where I found the solution.

3. Shut down Windows in Parallels. Then:

4. From the Parallels Menu > Configure > Hardware > USB & Bluetooth > USB Connection Preferences > Click the Plus sign

5. The Steam controller should already show up, or will show up when you click the plus sign.

6. Click the pencil icon to tell parallels to connect the Steam Controller to Windows (10 in my case) and not the mac.

7. Close the window and restart Parallels

8. Restart Steam in Big Picture Mode

9. Configure Steam and the game in their respective preferences for the controller - and it works!

*** You do not need to connect by Micro USB cable as the dongle does that for you - it's not a Bluetooth controller.

I was getting a whole series of Microsoft Nano Transceiver showing up when I clicked to add devices, which I assumed was a glitch that would list the transceiver indefinitely. But after roughly 10 of those, "Wired controller" did show up, so I'm off to experiment.
