Is it possible to use the Steam controller on Nintendo Switch?
I recently bought a adapter which allows me to use any controller on the nintendo Switch and I also own a steam controller, so far I haven't found out if it can work together but if anyone knows please enlighten me because I feel like that it would be a great combo

With some third party software, it can most certainly be done. 100% possible, 0% if you aren't going to be the one to make that software yourself. The way I imagine it working is you would set up the SC on your PC through a non-Steam shortcut for the software itself. The software would then have to emulate the output of a controller through a BT dongle. I know for a fact this can be done but would probably need a special driver and the dongle wouldn't be usable for normal BT communication when working this way. It would kind of work like passthrough mode does for BT adapters with the Dolphin emulator. Then your PC would just send the configured controls from your PC to the Switch. Another added benefit to this approach is it would be able to work with any other console or device that accepts Bluetooth controllers.

Therein lies the problem though, no one has done it and the one guy I know personally who might have the necessary skills to pull something like this off isn't interested. So it would then lie on someone else who is both really into the SC and also really into the Switch and is motivated through a love of the challenge to put it all together.

Part of it is there wouldn't be a lot of demand for something like this for most people to consider making it, assuming they have the necessary skills to do so.

So, the short answer is no... Wish it wasn't a no though... Joycons suck and the pro controller is just an overpriced XBOX controller with no analog triggers and wimpy small handles.

Steam Controller is designed to work with Steam. If you manage to pair it with Switch or any other device, it will work in lizard mode (basically some kb+mouse bindings). SC configuration utility is embedded in Steam and you need it to configure and use the controller profiles.

Aww okay, so you don't think it's a possibility to get it working? D:

If there is, it would require extra hardware. You'd have to have something sitting between the Steam Controller and the Switch to convert the signals the SC sends out into something the Switch can understand. I don't even know if such a thing exists. In theory a knowledgeable coder could take a small Linux computer and get it to function like that, but I don't know if anyone has yet, and it's not going to be an easy thing to do.

I got my sc to work on the switch with custom made firmware but then to make it work on pc again u would have to change the firmware back.

Ah, now this is the answer I was looking for. I keep seeing people say that it'd be impossible without extra hardware, but why wouldn't it be possible through custom Steam Controller firmware?

@Nomac55 where did you find this firmware, and how reliable is it in your experience?

I think I have my answer.

https://github.com/greggersaurus/OpenSteamController/blob/master/README.md

It's a work in progress that only works wired right now, but it's looking great so far.

A video of it in action:
