Nacon Revolution Pro Controller 2 with Steam DS4 configuration possible?
Hi all,

I am planning to try out the Nacon Rev Pro2 controller which is an alternative version of DS4. My question is simple: can I use the DS4 configuration with this controller? Or will it be recognized as a generic X-input controller by Steam?

Thank you (if you have any information on this).

The V1 just worked after it was added to the list of controllers Steam opens, but not sure about the V2. From a quick google it looks like they are doing a bunch of remapping stuff themselves and that may interfere with our ability to use it. The 3rd party PS4 controller manufacturers tend to install their own Xinput wrappers so you may want to check and see NACON is doing that. I know that for the Raiju to work as a PS4 you have to go into the device manager and select the default windows HID driver for the device. https://support.razer.com/console/razer-raiju/

I'm aware of that, but this is just a simple question.
Also, Steam Controller has been changed to Steam Input since it now support multiple controller. I don't see a reason why I cannot post the question here.

Well, because there is still a Steam Controller in the background and all. I too dislike the fact they never made a separate forum just for non-Steam controllers. That having been said unless someone has that controller, no way to tell. The DS4 support works well enough with DS4s but many 3rd part controllers have real problems or don't work at all. Bottom line, no idea but it does have a very good chance to work with all the updates and such Valve have done to make third-party DS4 like controllers work.

When Steam first added DS4 support, didn't you say you weren't gonna post on threads about DS4 or something like that, because you didn't like that the Steam Controller forums would be mixed with DS4 threads? Or something like that. Probably was a joke.

Yes, I did and no it wasn't a joke. Thing is, I have actually changed my mind over time. I am the first one to admit that I was way too aggressively against it. There is a lot of overlap and for general configuration issues, it makes sense to have SC people be able to help out since we have dealt with all of it for a long time. The issue comes in where DS4 people ask about Bluetooth adapters or where XBOX people ask how to plug in a controller. I still feel like there should have been a clear delineation between SC and everyone else since the SC is VERY special compared to the others. It also really grinds my gears when people make posts and ask a question and then say something like "But my 360 controller doesn't have trackpads". I mean, it needs to be VERY clear which controller they are referring to. Maybe there could be a tag system implemented into Steam forums so they can be easily tagged as one or the other controller type and that wouldn't bother me much. That's more of Valve needing to implement a batter Forum system in general though.

Kind of like GloSC, I kinda hated it for a while. I mean, I have the dude who made in my friends list for a long time and he is a nice guy and all but it was always causing issues with that virtual pad driver it uses. Nowadays, it adds the virtual driver on the launch of a game that needs GloSC and then as soon as the game closes, the driver is removed so it won't cause issues anymore. Time changes minds, especially as I move forward and realize that generally, I like helping people if I can even if they insist on using a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ controller like a DS360BONE G420 Pro. Feel me? 😁

Well said. I figured you changed your mind.

I must say, I've never seen something like this:

That's amusing.

@austinp-dev: Thank you for your reply. Luckily, I have not purchased the Nacon Pro V2 since I recently notice the SteamController support information: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5199-TOKV-4426 (thanks to SteamController reddit community).
Therefore, I stopped my order of this controller. (Instead I went for the STRIKEPAD PS4 Grip for my DS4 since it is listed as supported)

I bought one and added support for it in case anyone else ends up wondering if it works. You want to make sure the mode switch on the back of the controller is in PS4 mode and not PC mode.
