SF30 Pro
I've got an issue with my 8bitdo SF30 Pro Controller. It doesn't listed in steam controller settings. Windows is actually recognizes it as "Pro Controller". But steam can't see this controller at all.

Activate PS4 controller support in big picture mode.
SF30 has different settings( Xinput =xbox,Dinput = PS pro/4/3 , etc.)

Depending on which setting you have chosen on the sf30 you need to activate PS or xbox controller support in bigpic mode in steam.

Actually my problem not with generic controller support. It recognizes as nintendo (not ps4) pro controller and i want to use it with the new possibility to use nintendo pro controller with steam. Btw it worked fine for a long time with dinput mode on, but no gyro and vibration support.

http://support.8bitdo.com/
read the manual and setup the SF30pro controller to Dinput
Start+B is Dinput/Android

Direct input should support gyro and vibration.

Did you activate PS/Xbox and generic controller support in big picture mode ?
If not you should , otherwise it will not work.

The SF30 is not, I repeat NOT, a Switch pro controller. The name the controller sends to the connected console or PC is irrelevant to it actually being a Switch pro controller. I wouldn't expect it to work unless Nintendo was explicitly involved in making the SF30 controllers, which they are not. Not entirely sure how the Switch BT works for controllers compared to the PC methods but the name being that same may be enough for the Switch to detect it as the same controller type. With Steam talking more directly to the controller itself, it would have to be hardware similar.

Essentially, if it doesn't work, it never will unless Valve adds support for it directly, which would be pretty cool. Though, it may be misinterpreting it as a genuine pro controller when it isn't so turning off pro controller support in Steam should be enough to restore the old way it just used Dinput and generic gamepad support.

In my opinion, even if Valve doesn't want to support those controllers at all, it should not be misidentifying them as genuine Switch Pro controllers. I would put this into the bug reports forum so they can at least disallow Steam from trying to use it as a pro controller when it isn't.

You talking about the SF30 Pro or SN30 Pro? That's what OP is referring to. That thing is literally a Switch pro controller with motion controls and everything.

I got it to work with my bluetooth adapter and so did this guy: https://www.reddit.com/r/8bitdo/comments/8grswf/gyro_support_on_pc_using_steam_beta_connect_in/

Switch "MODE"? Why don't you just say how to do it so you can help the OP?
Forcen May 3, 2018 @ 9:08pm
You start it by holding start and Y at the same time. then try to pair it in windows by holding the pair button on the back of the controller.

You might be able to use the included cable also at this point.

I assumed this part was understood by OP but maybe it was unclear, they mentioned all other modes that it can do. Here is the manual: http://download.8bitdo.com/Manual/Controller/SN30pro+SF30pro/SN30pro+SF30pro_Manual.pdf

Are you using bluetooth or cable? How far do you get in the bluetooth process, can windows find it? If you're using a cable, which one?

I tried the 8bit cable with the nintendo cable and that didn't work and vice versa so use the included ones. Maybe plug it in and leave it for a while.

Yes, with bluetooth windows recognizes sf30 pro in switch mode as "pro controller". Wired connection doesn't helps me with steam at all.

And then what? Tell me the whole process and where it goes wrong.

Same thing with the wired process. (try start +y and plug the end of the cable into the controller, wait a bit and plug it in when steam is running)

Try removing all pro controllers from the bluetooth list of devices and start over and pair it again, be sure to update to the new new steam beta before you do.

Do you have a real pro controller? Did that thing work? enabled the option for switch controllers in the controller settings?

I already tried all. Tried switch mode with wire, tried switch mode with bluetooth. Windows is recognizing it perfect, but steam is doesn't see controller. I tried to turn it before steam starts, after steam starts and still no pro controller in steam controllers list. My bluetooth adapter working only with sf30 pro and i got no real pro controller to test it.

Try updating the firmware on the controller, I think I got the second newest one. (exit steam while doing this just in case)

Might be some bug then, consider making a post on the Steam beta forums or in the blogpost that related to this. At least one of the valve posters mentioned the 8bitdo pro working.

Check the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\controller.txt file and maybe share it in this or any other place.

EDIT: did you try re-pairing the device, removed it etc?

I've got 1.25, this is the latest firmware version.

For now I think they just need more work with this support.

From 7 to 10 times, i think.

Is your bluetooth adapter made for ps4 controllers? Or is that another adapter? The log mentions it.
Try unplugging it if it's not used. or any other gaming periphiral that you don't need.

If you want/can you could try it on another computer you don't use for gaming normally? just to see if the problem follows you there.

Maybe you got a laptop with bluetooth somewhere?
