there is bug that that jumbles up the order of the letters, adding presses that shouldn't be there. what you need to do to fix this is delete '/hideout' and exit out to the first screen you get to when you configure the controller. now you'll see that some letters are gone, but some are still bound. delete those letters, and back out again. repeat until all letters are gone. after all letters are gone, go and enter '/hideout' again. back out to the first screen and you should see all letters are now in order.
note: once it's in correct order, making changes could throw it off again. even something as simple as a name change can jumble it up. if this happens, simply repeat the process above.

I have not had success with, "NEEDHELP" -- it maps directly in steam as "NEDHLP." This suggests that multiple presses of the same letter don't actually register in 2019.
I figured it out. The "Cycle Binding" option must be set to on for repeat keys to register correctly. Also note that this setting needs to be set in the "show activators" menu after attempting to bind a button/menu etc.
Note that every time you need a duplicate letter (if you've hit it once already, it's a duplicate), you'll need to add an activator, select the cycle binding option, and keep going with the text. It's a pain, but it's possible.
Thanks very much bud. I've found solutions to a few steam controller bugs, so if you need help feel free hit me up.
