Most people use mouse joystick or mouse on the right trackpad (if the game supports hybrid input.
Holding controller loosely, bending my right thumb to glide over (not straight).
I just deal with mouse like joystick emulation.

I play third person games all the time with the SC, those usually work best with JCamera as long as there isn't any aiming. This will allow you to easily and comfortably slide the camera around your char.
First person games are best to use the genuine mouse if the game allows it, 1000 times better. BUT, JMouse can be used in cases where it is not allowed. I have beaten whole FPS games with JMouse and I generally prefer adding Gyros and edge spin for those to deal with the downsides of JMouse. Those are detailed in the above guide.
JMove works perfectly for isometric games and twin-stick shooters. and allows you to go right to shooting instantly in any direction, unlike JCamera.
So, let me ask you, what game are you trying to play?
Also, it will never feel the same as an analog stick so you do need to stop wanting or expecting it to. The second you get over that you will be able to get a feel for how it actually works and you will be fine. The guide above also covers some of the grips and how you can use that to minimize and fatigue you are experiencing. If anything hurts or is too uncomfortable you are holding the controller wrong or too tight, which is the most common thing for people to do. This is not an XBOX controller so you simply can't hold it like one.
Be creative
I did another way: 1 main for shoot and foot; 2 is for driving, flying and shooting; 3 is for telephone and driving/flying.
I tried a gyro driving config and felt that the steering went way too fast for me. Also, it's kind of unnatural, IMO. Perhaps it would be good in a simulation driving game where you actually turn the wheel, but for something like this, it felt off.
What habit? My only experience with analogue is the SC's left analogue, I've hardly had time to develop habits in favour of analogue input or even track pad emulated. My experience with both began together and using them together gives clear contrast at how sloppy and inefficient the emulation is compared to actually using an analogue.
Regarding resetting my finger, that's exactly the problem, tho. The track pad is far too big compared to an analogue, so the range you need to extend your finger to reach opposite ends of the emulated analogue on the pad is inefficient and feels sloppy. On analogue you have quicker movements and more control over the analogue verses the pad as your thumb is always on place of it and follows it easy.
Salty much? Take a pair of calipers and measure it. The active area of the pads is only slightly larger than a DS4 controller so that assertion is objectively inaccurate and this is not taking into account the unusable far edge, few mms at the absolute most. It's not the controller and it's not the design, it's you. I don't mean to be harsh but it is truth. If I can do it with my gigantic sausage fingers then you can too if you take the time to get a feel for it. If you don't want to spend the calories to lift your thumb then you should prolly just give your SC away and use an XBOX controller from now on as that seems to be more your speed, no joke. Some people just can't handle the fact it's a little different and to me, you seem to fall into that category.
Hoping into every thread you can and complaining about it also doesn't help much either. Let's try to be constructive instead of butthurt that it's not a normal controller, that is simply not the point.
