Steam Controller

Using as GYRO steering wheel ... but it only changes left to right in middle (neutral) ?
trying using the steam controller as GYRO steering wheel in Euro Truck sim... but the controller only changes its steering direction from left to right crossing middle (neutral mid) ?

This Behaviour is more like gamepad two buttons system (left or right)

a)
A wheel would change direction to left, even if you are at maximum right at the moment when you slightly go backwards towards neutral mid....

b)
the steam controller only changes direction to left when you (coming from max right) reach the middle and enter the left zone

Any settings I didn't see ?

Hmm, I KNOW it works great in American Truck Sim (I just did a vid on it) so I would assume it's the same for Euro Truck. One thing I noticed was to keep it set to Wheel in the game's settings instead of gamepad. I go over ATS around 13:50 mark in vid:

i took a look at euro truck and it sounds like you've got gyro input as a directional pad instead of joystick move. go ahead and try this...

1. joystick move
2. output axis horizontal
3. dead zone inner all the way down
4. dead zone outer down a few notches to make it more responsive.
5. dead zone shape circle

haha, nice.... I watched your youtube video this morning , ExistentialEgg :-)
and I thought : what a brilliant tutorial !
and I did the settings on wheel this morning but it didn't work.

But now I watched it again and compared the settings once again and now I saw my fault.
I had "Keybboard+controller (xbox360 for windows)" in the first line
but in the second line I had also "Controller (xbox360 for windows)" where you have "None"
double input in the Euro truck settings created the mess

works now ! :-)

ty very much both for your detailed answers.

The only Problem I got now that Steering wheel turns to fast. Got the steering settings to lowest in Euro truck sim.

And also my throttle and brakes don't work as before. Only full Power/gas or brake . Cannot brake slightly or accelerate slightly. Just works now like pressing a button.

if steering wheel is messing up your other settings, you may have to go back to gamepad instead of wheel. you'll have to fiddle with the in game sensitivity. i'd recommend turning it all the way up, then go to configure the gyro on your controller. use "relaxed" for stick response. play around with the dead zone outer slider and see if you find something you like.

i don't have time to set up a config now, but i'll try later tonight. if you figure out a sensitivity that feels good let us know.

alright did some testing and here is what i came up with.

in game
controller subtype: gamepad, joystick
steering sensitivity: maximum

gyro settings:
joystick move
horizontal only
stick response curve - linear
dead zone shape - circle
dead zone inner - minimum
dead zone outer - three clicks to the right of default

i also have gyro enable button set to right pad touch and gyro button behavior turns gyro off. that way when i look around with the mouse i don't accidentally steer.

hope that helps.

Ty

Yes, at the moment I am trying to get the best setting and I guess I choose
"controller subtype:game pad joystick"

(Disadvantage: only recognize left or right when you cross neutral middle)

Like to play with those setting:
"controller subtype:steering wheel "
But I have problem with the sensitivity.
Throttle and brake problem is solved, just set controller throttle in ETS ingame settings to acceleration.

(Advantage : recognize left or right everywhere )
