Check battery level? (DS4/SC)

Is there a way to check the battery level on the DualShock 4? I know the Steam Controller's light starts flashing when the battery's low, but the DualShock 4 doesn't tell me anything.
I usually open DS4Windows to check it and it's really annoying that I have to do this. Has any of you found any other solution?

A fair observation actually. There used to be an indicator under controller settings but that's gone now. Just imagine for every time you replace the batteries in your steam controller you will have to charge your dual shock between 15 and 25 times and that should give you some perspective. Just unplug it when you are actively using it and never leave it unplugged otherwise and you should be ok. If your game for longer than the few hours they last, then just charge half way through. Or you could just use your Steam Controller and it's minimal 80 hours per charge, that's what I would do. :P

I have both so I try to use both lol, the DS4 feels nicer in the hands and has a dpad while the Steam Controller... well, it's the Steam Controller, we all know the benefits :P
Anyways thank you, I'll get used to charge it when I'm not using it as you said, the last thing I want is that it dies on me while playing...

IMO, Valve should make a visual ping on the screen, just like an achievement with a battery warning when you get too low. THAT would really help out. :D

When is someone going to come up with a New Option?

Let us Charge our Controllers, but also allow us the Option to replace the Batteries...

Why is this not an Option? Why do Companies make things so difficult, ~_~

Batteries are expensive here, & the Devices that use them, go through
them so frequently fast, it's insane, o_@

My TV Remote goes through Batteries almost every Night, my Controllers
go through Batteries almost every single Night...

My Mouse goes through Batteries Frequently as well...

Each of these require 2 Batteries...

So in 1 Full Day, I use up around about
4 Batteries + an Additional 2 for every Non-Wired Controller I own, o_@

I own 6 Wireless Controllers, 2 Wireless Mouse, & 2 Wireless Keyboards,
1 or 2 Wireless Fight Sticks, & 2 Move Controllers...
Luckely the PS3 Controllers, Move Controllers, & 1 of my Mouse have
charging Docks... So I don't replace the Batteries on those...



I have about a 24 Pack of AA Duracell Batteries for I think $10 at Jewel, but
that was like from some time ago, I do not know what they cost now, I saw
a 4 or 5 pack of Extra Life Duracell Batteries, but they have Warning Lables,
& Recharging ones are about $6 for 2 or 4 Batteries, but the Charger is like
$25 to $30...


Anyway I look at it? 1 Week is expensive for Batteries, :(

Rechargables are cheaper in the long run.
I got a varta charger with 4x AA and 2 x AAA it cost me about 20 €.
I have a hard time believing there wouldn't be any charger plus battery packs available in the US.
There must be Some kind of company selling similar packs in the US.


I personally don't see the benefit of Wirelss Mice and Keyboards.
Those are rather stationary HIDs which can be connected via active usb hubs/repeaters cables even over longer distances.
No batteries needed with hardwired KBMs and you have a bigger pool of KBMs to choose from.

With gamepads and IR remotes it is a different story, especially with Gyro/Motion controlls (SC,DS4,VR controllers).
But that is the price we pay for motion controlls.
