Steam Controller

Steam Controller

Remove Xinput
I would like to completely shut off the Xinput.
Some games do not have a 'turn off xbox controller option' like bethseda games.
And even with the steam controller in 'Keyboard/Mouse' mode, it is still recognized as an Xinput device on non-steam games.
There must be a way, maybe it involves removing a few of the many drivers the steam controller uses?

Please help...

If you have no other ways to have it work - make desktop cofig and run the game without steam overlay.
I know what you're talking about cuz I had the same trouble as you have right now :) So, I've made some sacrifices to make it work, it was worth it though.

If there are no xinput bindings on the controller it shouldn't be recognised as an xinput device. Make sure you select the default KB/M profile and start from there.

I have without steam overlay... it is still recognized as a gamepad when I start the game... and therefore a desktop config did not help.

Both Xoutput and GloSC have exactly the same problem. Don't worry, though, it's pretty simple but you will have to do some manual fiddling. What is happening is the virtual controller driver is still installed, even though you may have uninstalled the app itself. For Xoutput, I THINK it uses Vjoy IIRC. You will have to find that in your uninstall menu. If not, you can still go into your device manager, find the controller driver, right click it and uninstall it. After this, you will no longer have the controller driver and you should have no further problems.

Some games will detect the controller even if you don't actually want to use it. With a physical controller, you can just unplug it entirely when you want to but for a virtual pad, you don't have a choice but to either disable or uninstall the driver entirely. You can just disable the driver in your device manager if you want to and that should work fine. This way, you can still have the functionality when you want it by re-enabling it at a later date.

Some detectors will still recognize it as gamepad, believe me.

Wow, tell me what that game is. Because now I'm curious.

Oh, and another trick, that harsh detector scripts often runs when the game is loading at the very begining, so turn on your controller after the game is fully loaded. I was tricking DE's Warframe for quite a while in this way. But if detector monitoring ports for new peripherals - it's a mess, farewell :) Try cammelspit method then maybe?

Doesn't anyone have an answer to this?

Looks like still no. I have been wanting to use a controller to simulate ONLY mouse/kb inputs for at least 2 years now and still no solution. Keep having issues where games keep detecting both XINPUT and KB/Mouse inputs simultaneously.... -_-

its so lame that a company this big cant fix a problem that small.

What? Just don't bind ANYTHING as gamepad in the configurator and no xinput device will be detected by any game, it's been this way for a long time. This is why you don't comment on threads that are over a year old. If it is detecting as a gamepad, then you have something bound to a gamepad in the config, so just look through it and figure out what is bound and remove it. Problem solved.

Yep. Most likely it's triggers set to analog output. Seen "a lot" of people forget that this is the case :)

That's a good call, and yeah you are likely right about that.

@wisewavecollapse
If you can't find the binding, just send the link to your config that you are trying to use and we can point it out to you.

Can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Makes me think you genuinely WANT to complain and don't actually care if it works or not. When you figure out how to follow simple directions let me know and I will still help you if your pride won't get in the way of course.
