Battery Pack for Steam Controller

Reliance on double A batteries is the number 1 thing stopping me from getting this. Can someone make a battery pack for the stream controller so it's more like PS4 controller?

Most of the rechargeable batteries other than Eneloop can only recharge for about half the time of Eneloop. The spec sheet of Eneloop says they can recharge 2100 times, whereas AmazonBasics says 1000 times.

I don't think Eneloop can actually survive that long under most circumstances, but I hear bad things about non-Eneloop batteries. I'd say it's not worth it to buy them over Eneloop since there's not THAT much difference in price.

This is among the least researched things I have heard all year. 2100 recharge cycles is silly because it all depends on your charging current and is a PR rating since no third party backs these ratings up. I would put money on the fact this is an unsubstantiated claim by the PR department and nothing more. Eneloops have a lower internal resistance that about 50% of the NiMh cells out there but that is it, nothing more. They are also not the lowest IR out there so let's stop fellating Eneloops for a second and say... Just buy decent batteries and be done with it, shall we? Besides, the charger they come with charges at such a high current they will likely not last as long as a battery that is half the cost charged at 500ma. The one and the ONLY thing you would need such a low internal resistance for is for extremely high drain devices like a camera flash. Flashes can and will drain 4 standard AA cells in about 8 to 10 flashes. That kind of current, an Eneloop or the other bettery cells would make a difference, for the SC? Not even a little. The SC sips power at the currents it uses and so even the cheapest cells on the market will last for years, trust me, I know. You buy eneloops if you want to waste money, you buy normal batteries for normal things. Try to remember that lower internal resistance makes sacrifices for a battery, most notably in capacity, among other things.

The Steam Controller was designed to accept a battery pack; they haven't released it yet. Because you don't actually need a battery pack; the controller has a low energy consumption. Although I'm rather having a battery pack it amazes me to see a device that handles very well the energy consumption. I have a camera that uses one battery that I changed just two times in 6 years.

I hate to say it but no, it's not designed with a battery pack in mind. If you are thinking of those two holes in the back of the case behind the battery cover, those are actually both ground, this is for helping to deal with EMI. The positive terminals are still deep into the grips, not that you couldn't make one for it, just not as easy. Besides, who cares with that kind of battery life. :P

AmazonBasics going real strong for me. Bought an 8 battery charger on sale and it all works great.
