Gargoyle
So I tried to do the gargoyle for the quest, but my entire party got wiped in 1 move. My party was around lvl 45. What lvl do you need to be to take on the gargoyle?

It's not big dungeon change but dungeon change.

I managed to beat Garogyle around lvl 70. You just need some strategy and noire as party leader.

Right, sorry. Wrong plan, right Stella's area. ;)

I did it at level 110~120 I think, using the "infinite turn delay" party (sans Uni, replaced by Noire as the leader). Still took forever (and half a dozen P.SP Chargers 2). I can't imagine how long it took you, but probably way too long for it to be any fun (for me)... :/

It took like half an hour or so. You need to debuff him with vert and keep agile up with vert buff. and even then he can almost 1 hit your characters. Ofcourse i had vit and men buff as well.

str and int buffs MATTER INSANELY. When i was fighting Arfoire on a second save new game for guide, I hit 21k with Noire Exe drive. that fight went wrong so i had to redo that. Then i used str buff on Noire and she hit 40k.

Wow, that's some dedication. I haven't seen a fight that long since that hidden boss in Tales of Symphonia...

Gargoyle is the most difficult enemy I have ever faced in this game yet. Have not entered the post-game dungeons yet.

The problem with Gargoyle in Rebirth 3 vs Victory, is that the Goddess Aegis and Dreadnaught are much later in the game, so Gargoyle is a much larger threat.

Goddess Aegis, or whatever the name is, gives, among other things, +2500 HP, +200 STR, and +50 Fire Resist. Good boost to HP, halves the power of his Fire attacks, and helps you damage him. It could be made in Chapter 4 in Victory.

Dreadnaught is one of Verts best spears if you don't have DLC stuff, and in Victory could be obtained as early as Chapter 4.

He is silly powerful for when his quest appears, and I swear someone screwed up when setting his stats.

Okay, I just beat the Gargoyle, figured I'd give up my strategy to let everyone have some help. Bear in mind, that this is about a 12 minute fight thereabouts. I didn't time it. My party's level was approximately 70 for the most part.

The party:

1. Neptune coupled with Histoire (more on this in a minute).
2. Blanc (leader)
3. Baby Compa
4. Plutia

Equipment: Most of them had top gear for starting chapter 6, I had lucked into a Mjolnir without farming it for Blanc. Everyone also had a Dragon Defense rank 2 chip (because I had something like 45 of them, I figured "why not?"). Since all the cards had a yellow slot, I also included a Critical bonus. Everyone had an Inferno ring for the Fire Resist.

Skills:
Neptune: Nep Rush x3, Ice Saber x4 (if you've unlocked the fourth slot), Combo Link, Chastise
Blanc: Hailstorm x3, Icicle Hit x3, Combo Link, Schneesturn
Baby Compa: Super Rush, Cold One x2, Brrrr......
Plutia: Plutie Hit x3, Freeze! x4 (if slot unlocked) Combo Link, Jolty Hit

The Strategy:

Settle in, this is going to be a while. For starters, let's get our formation right.

1 - 2 - 4

____3

The reason for this is you want to box in the Gargoyle so he can't go roaming and splatter poor Compa on a whim. Everyone preferably have full EXE bars, at least 3.5 bars. Make sure to save it BEFORE you start the fight.

NOW FIGHT!

IF you did not get a Symbol Attack, you're in trouble. Reload and try again. Now that you've gotten your Symbol Attack, let's mess him up. When your CPUs come up, the first round pop your HDDs and move them into position surrounding the Gargoyle. You want to make sure that your girls are close enough to each other to let them get buffed by Blanc as need be.

So after the first round, you should look like this:

1 - X - 4
___2

_____3

The first round's abilities are NOT attacks, you're setting up for the beatdown. And no, you don't want to burn up a lot of your EXE gauge, as tempting as it is. I did warn you that it was a long fight, so just settle in.

Okay, now how to run each character:

Neptune: She is one of your big hitters, so you don't want to burn too much of her EXE gauge because you need it for other things. Basically, all she does is Ice Saber, Combo Link, Ice Saber, then Chastise (which incidentally is an ICE attack too, bonus!). With decent buffs, she'll max out her Chastise hit at 10k, which is huge for this fight.

Blanc: She pops defense buffs on all 3 of the front liners. When she's not doing that, her main focus is shaving HP. Her attack pattern is Hailstorm first (until she can Combo Link), Combo Link, then Icicle Hit. IF she's maxed on her SP, focus on the Icicle Hits over anything else.

Compa: You want her parked DIAGONALLY from the "boss", so a straight line flame attack won't crisp her. The punishment for that is instant death for her, so bring some res items. She should be tossing out heals to anyone who gets down to 6k HP, and don't be stingy. IF she isn't needed to heal, her attack pattern is Super Rush, Cold One x2, Brrr......

Plutia: She runs the majority of your debuffs, but she also is using Megadaptor on Compa for the Int/Men buff. Basically, you keep his Men debuff on and just shave him down too. She's also your emergency healer: If anyone is below 6k and he attacks before Compa, go big with her. IF you don't need her SP skills, her attack pattern is Plutia Hit, Combo Link, Plutia Hit and a Break Finisher. If she's maxed out, Freeze x3, Combo Link, Freeze x3, Break.

I've found that MOST of the Break Finishers tend to do more damage than the Power ones on this guy. Now as I said, this fight is not quick, but your other options are a lot of item spamming, using the Super Exp plan and just outpacing him (I doubt he'd last long against a level 200-300 group). But this strategy has worked for me, to the point I farmed the chip after 2 fights, back to back. The second one was a bit longer (I didn't farm some extra fights for the EXE boost), but it still worked.

Good luck!

Note: Some of the attacks might be wrong, I copied their names from the Victory wiki instead of the Rebirth one. But it should be enough to let you figure it out. And I apologize for the designs, the website appears to have stripped out the extra spaces
