Neptune sounds... weird?
Is it just me or does Neptune have a different VA? Her jumping line sounds different from Re;Birth1 and 2, or perhaps I just haven't played the prequels for a long time

Well, to be fair, how "ear-piercy" Neppers sounds in Japanese will depend on one's ears, which vary from person to person, and the sound rig each person is using, which is unlikely to be flatish-frequency-response speakers with room treatment and all.
I fired up Re;Birth 2 and 3 at the same time, switching back and forth between the two Neptunes. In RB3, Neptune's Japanese jump sounds truly _are_ much higher pitched.
Her voice was kind of cute before... but now it's "oh god my ears!"

Nepocalypse?
"I will Nep your face!"
No way the Japanese Nep can sound more bad ass than that.
Note that my comparison is RB2 Japanese to RB3 Japanese.

We aren't talking about English VS ♥♥♥ in this case because both sound bad for different reasons. Personally English voice is /slightly more tollerable but not by much. Only good thing about nep period is her Purple Heart personality....

Also I'd like to point out that the 'mature' one telling us to 'grow up' is the one throwing the tantrum here. Gotta love irony...

The rest of us are making casual discussion

the only thing to take away from this discussion is that Rie Tanaka's voice is god-tier

Glad that I'm not the only one

Yup. Neptune battle, exploration and post-battle lines are far higher pitched than in 1st or 2nd game. Luckily dialogue remains as loveable as always.

Maybe they filled the recording booth with helium?

After playing a bit more into the game, screw Neptune, what the heck happened to Falcom's voice? She sounds like she inhaled some helium.

For clarificaiton, I'm talking about the English voice.
likely going for a younger voice the Falcom from Rebirth 2 was nearly 10 years older.
Some of Japanese Nep's lines have been redone ("Boing" and the level up jingle are very noticeably different), but I don't know if she has a new VA. I prefer the old versions of those lines.

Of course not, her VA is always the same, and she voices Purple Heart too.

No it's the same annoying voice she always had :P

But Purple Heart's voice is sexy :D
