Keeping multiple saves definitely recommended because of this, sticking to a few saves to keep things tidy seems like a huge risk.
but as others have said, save often, save in multiple slots, and don't rely solely on quick save.
On another note, it seems the game doesn't recognise the clocks changing, so now saves are being given a timestamp an hour forward. I have no idea how it's managing that.
Best speedrun ever.
The point is, that even with games where it isn't a common issue, it can still occur. Multiple saves is just a good practice and in most instances the extra hard drive space it takes up is negligable.
I only save to one slot after having too many and that's when it started going crazy. after having just one slot, things work fine now... so far at least until I loose all of my progress....
