Save often and in different slots!

I find it's very strange too. The game frequently reorders the save list so that it's only mostly in timestamp order with a couple of exceptions. And its Quick Save option seems to be thrown off when it does this, so recently I'd been keeping one regular save and one quick save, but sometimes quick saving overwrites the regular save.

Keeping multiple saves definitely recommended because of this, sticking to a few saves to keep things tidy seems like a huge risk.

While I agree it's strange I've never outright lost any saves (excluding the weird glitch where saves would corrupt to jan 1 1969 that was quickly patched)

but as others have said, save often, save in multiple slots, and don't rely solely on quick save.

And let this be your lesson. We've all been there. Glitches happen. I remember playing Legend of Dragoon on PSone and halfway through disc 4, both my main save and the backup got corrupted. After that I really got anal, If you look on my Gamecube memory cards you'll likely find around 100 individual saves for one playthrough of ToS. I've eased quite a bit since then, but I still, when allowed, keep about 7 saves that I cycle through as I'm playing.

sux even more because i was about to go to the EX dungeon to farm nameless armor items ... at least i had done a NG+ just to test things, so i didnt lose all the progress on other things.... but still.... having to speed run to the end sux ; ;

The point is we shouldn't really need to. The save system in this game is just really janky. Playing again tonight with 5 saves and it felt like it was constantly re-ordering them. What's to reassure me it's doing so cleanly or not somehow mixing their names and contents too?

On another note, it seems the game doesn't recognise the clocks changing, so now saves are being given a timestamp an hour forward. I have no idea how it's managing that.

I always use the quick save feature.. so I don't get much of this problem and I always save one file at the very bottom of the save slot before closing the game so that I wont accidently delete it

I haven't lost a save to this issue yet (thank the gods), but I have had the timestamp for my saves reset about 6-7 times. I just beat the game and it's saying I only have like 17 hours in the game o.o

Best speedrun ever.

The point is, that even with games where it isn't a common issue, it can still occur. Multiple saves is just a good practice and in most instances the extra hard drive space it takes up is negligable.

I only save to one slot after having too many and that's when it started going crazy. after having just one slot, things work fine now... so far at least until I loose all of my progress....

The save files are tiny too. You can easily back the up, though they are in an exceptionally weird spot for Steam (seriously Valve, use %programdata% or something).

They are under:
(Wherever you installed or placed Steam)\Steam\userdata\youruserid\351790

I like the cute .to12sav file extension... but I thought this is the 15th main entry?
