Question regarding Hidden Artes and Sorey

In my Martial Arts, I have Tiger Blade, which improves Attack, and Sword Flare which increases my Arte Attack, as far as I know, only one can be active at a time (if you Tiger Blade, then Freezing Strike, the defensive buff overwrites the offensive once).

My question is as follow: Are Hidden Artes "Attacks" or "Artes"? Most of them are melee attacks that deal elemental damage, because it's still a physical attack, I am thinkin it's an attack, but at the same time, there must be a reason for the Artes stats (Like the bonus from Wielder of the Mystic Sword title).

Hidden Artes are composite; ie. they use both the user's weapon attack and arte attack and the target's defense and arte defense.

In a lot of ways, they're the worst of both worlds.
