Playing automatic is bad, never a good thing to let AI or some shady mechanics do the job.
This.
And if you want a specific artes to be performed, you'll have to uncheck the ones you do not want. It's good for optimizing your parties' ability when battling.
Playing on automatic isn't bad if you set the difficulty to the lowest. It can be fun to just simply watch. It's almost like an anime. I'm very glad this option is even in the game. Kind of like the Theatre Mode in Soul Calibur 2. Something very fun to just sit back, relax, and watch two characters fight with, but they never kept it in the later installments.
Also, the AI in this game is actually really, REALLY good. And very customizable to your strategy. The AI of your teammates is legit amazing for a game of this genre.
Also, to clarify, I don't mean setting control method for character on full auto (from semi-auto or manual).
I completely replace the older artes with the better ones. Having to hold down the key for the stronger art isn't a bad idea in theory, but its execution is terrible since it casts the weaker arte first. If I'm just pressing it, I want the weaker arte to cast. If I want to use the stronger arte, I'll hold the key down. The game makes no distinction, and instead opts to use the weak arte, and then the stronger arte. That's 2 out of your 4 combo slots gone.
Tell that to rose...even on automatic she ♥♥♥♥♥ up her Solo trial big time , i mean shes lvl 40 and the mobs in there 28 lol.
The teammate AI is designed to be played in a team. The solo missions are supposed to be played alone with you controlling the character. Although you could set the difficulty to Simple and let the ai solo it. They'll do it no problem, especially if they're 12 levels higher than the mobs.
Iam playing on simple since the beginning ( yeah bash me the casual scum :P) and i really dislike Roses combat style (nearly as bad as leilahs) thus i set her on automatic and she just cant make it. Her eq is pretty good with a lot of Attack and physical defense (theres only like 2 enemys in that trial that do seraph arts). All the other trials were a piece of cake.
