You mean double tap TAB? I'll give that a go. Still doesn't explain why I can't switch targets one battle, while I can the next one.
The fun part is that you can't manually aim your attacks/artes as far as I know, so when your weakest character is getting ganged by 6 enemies and about to die and you try to use an AoE by switching to one of the targets only to have the target flee from the group and your AoE miss the group.
There's 'manual' mode and freeroam, but that just invloves invoking your attacks where you stand, lock-on still causes you to attack in the direction of your target and cast AoEs/artes on them.
Honestly, combat is just a mess. Abyss was the last Tales of I played before this, but it appears they tried to change up parts of the battle system without adapting other parts to the changes. Kinda just feels rushed, both combat and story.
Well, in some of such battles i specially didn't fight and just tapped RB and quick switch didn't work. It's not disabled completely, but it will only work when i run and stay right in front of the enemy i wish to target. Looks like a game's bug to me.
